  • Laidlaw, With any of the engines, when changes are made it really is difficult to know what will happen. I would think you are close to seeing them back in the rankings but it is hard to say without knowing the site. For us, when we make changes we are almost always surprised at how fast or slow they change. When they do reappear, do not be surprised to see some ranking swings for a little while. You mentioned redirects toward the end, I am assuming these are 301's, if so did you go url to url and do so in the .htaccess file? If not, this could be the culprit. Hope this helps

  • Yes, go ahead and ignore those warnings. There was another recent question about this and the help desk said they could be ignored. The help desk generally doesn't just browse Q&A, as they keep busy enough with the help forums and the tickets submitted to them. If there is a problem that might be affecting a large number of users, then I'll flag a Q&A question and ask them to come and take a look at things.

  • Thank you Simon, Is there a more powerful way to get my specific Squash Racquets page ranked higher in addition to additional content and optimization?

  • Indeed it will unfortunately. Am sure the clever folk at Google will deal with them search wise, these spammy comments will still be visible all over though.

  • I don't have any experience with them, but you might check out CodeGuard to see if it would meet your needs. https://www.codeguard.com/

  • that is pagerank sculpting and no longer works for SEO. If you have 5 links on a page and want link juice to go to only 2 and nofollow the other 3 links on the page, the link juice will not go 50/50 to those two dofollow links. Instead the link juice will still get divided by 5 and you will be throwing away the PR that would normally have been passed to those 3 links.

  • Thank you for the help and advice- I really appreciate it. I still can't seem to decide the best course of action for the titles/headers. A little background incase you can help/advise: We sell 5 types of widgets. And each of these 5 headings have 50 or so products each. At the moment the title is Brand Name | Product name and the header is just Brand| Motto for all. The problem is making each of the 50 or so titles different as they all fit in one broad category and it is hard to define them further e.g. setting one widget as 'space saving widget' but the problem is about 10/50 products fit that description so I don't want customer thinking that particular one is the only space saving one we have (I hope you guys understand what I mean here) In this scenario would it be advisable just to stick with product names?

  • You are on the right track. If you read this document you may get a better understanding, it has some outdated stuuf about in links not being able to hurt, you, but the stuf about page rank and links is invaluable knowlage. http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank.html

  • I would like to see the pages, because i cant see how numbers would help conversion. Jou could also load numbers after a delay, but proabably the easiest answer would be to make sure you have description tags,a nd place plety of other text for SE's to sample

  • With the "shop" element in the domain option #2, you no longer have an exact match domain (EMD). The hyphenated version would be preferred. However, with 3 hyphens you're probably beyond the acceptable limits. From my perspective, neither is a good solution. I'd go the brand route instead.. I also agree with Shane Thomas that the EMD bonus will likely diminish over time.
