  • Hi Steve, The problem with case sensitive URLs is that while most of ASP.net servers (based on MS technology) treat them as one URL referring to the same page; on the other hand Google for Indexing purpose treats case-sensitive URLs as different ones. I would recommend implementing a solution to convert all URLs to lower case, something like mentioned here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/878578/how-can-i-have-lowercase-routes-in-asp-net-mvc I hope this helps, let me know if you have further queries. Regards, Vijay

  • The easiest way is to do it is from WordPress itself, as in the CMS settings, changing the code itself can get tricky and problematic especially when you come to update. You can change the default meta title from the Yoast SEO plug-in > search appearance > Taxonomies tab see here https://www.print4hospitality.co.uk/edit-category-titles/ or you can of course edit individual pages, which of course is not very practical for a site-wide change.

  • I checked using another tool and as I suspected it's an issue how your website is handling the redirects. Two major issues with your website SEO Your URL performed 1 redirects! While redirects are typically not advisable (as they can affect search engine indexing issues and adversely affect site loading time), one redirect may be acceptable, particularly if the URL is redirecting from a non-www version to its www version, or vice-versa. https://www.keyhub.com/en and https://keyhub.com/en should resolve to the same URL, but currently do not. I hope this helps. Regards, Vijay

  • Hello there.. Regarding the problem you do experience with Google choosed not to crawl the pages, that was marked as duplicate content. I don't understand how the pages can look the same but have different content? That does not make sense, either the pages are the same or they are not. So if they have different content, they can't be the same and if google marked them as duplicate content because of canonicals. You can always ask them to recrawl the pages by creating a sitemap, make sure the new URLs are in it and then resend the sitemap in webmaster tools. Also, I would suggest you edit all the pages and change something on each of them from your WordPress administration. That will tell Google that something on the pages has changed. I hope this was a help ... [Signature removed by moderator and response edited to comply with Community Etiquette Guidelines.]

  • Hi There, The possible reasons your page might be considered as redirected: The homepage URL redirects to /index.htm or /index.html or /index.php or redirects to https:// version of the website Some website scripts also redirect the pages or so it seems to search engines. A possible malware / virus on the website, which redirects the bots to their own sites. Please check if any of these reasons can be possible for the redirect, this can found using simple tools for SEO audit available online, which will render yours page as Google Fetch will do. Let me know if you have further queries. Regards, Vijay

  • Hi There, This might be a good approach, as you are using the branding keywords at the right place, your brand name search will get some impetus with that. Having said that, do keep in mind that you are over-doing it by stuffing it in many SEO related elements and might get penalized for it. I hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Vijay

  • Thanks for your response, Will. It's small business (maybe 10 or 12 employees) at a single location. While they don't really impact me directly, it's particularly bothersome because they are in the advertising and marketing business. We tell clients not to do these things, but all around there are agencies that succeed using these tactics.

  • Hi Simon It is best practice to ensure that all Titles, Descriptions, H1, content and ALT tags are filled in correctly. The problem you may have (and I have experienced this with one of my clients recently - so it isn't theory!) is that Google may distrust the canonical if it sees that those two pages are not in fact similar. The essence of the canonical is that both pages fulfil the same intent for the user. If that is not the case then they should be separate pages. If it is the case then it stands to reason that they are the same or markedly similar content. If you miss out any of the elements that there is a strong argument to treat them as two different pages. If Google then re-indexes a canonicalised page then two 'similar' pages end up in search which will drop both pages! So contrary to what Joseph says - it is actually very important to do this I hope that helps. Kind Regards Nigel

  • Hi there, I've just had another look at your post in SERP https://imgur.com/a/3tZvW8r, and it appears that the structured data is showing for me? Was there any other structured data you wanted shown on this page? Cheers, 3tZvW8r

  • From what I've encountered Johnathan, one of the easiest successful websites I have made in which it was completely thriving and I was succeeding in obtaining about 2-4 thousand unique visitors a day. I maintained this with reddit and a massive sized tumblr, Google had 0 involvement with me for a couple months. After my Twitter profile was ranking in the top 5 of my target keyword twice, that second time for almost a week juiced up on celebrity engagement, they finally did something on my behlaf. It wasn't anything like hand extended, or a cold beer in hand. more like, they stopped blocking the doorway, how kind. What I'm getting at is for some reason none of my lacking schema seemed to matter whatsoever or popunder script, the popup on the videos, the lack of adding nofollow tags to my questionable affiliates, and minus using yoast and making everything have 2 green dots, my site was highly questionable on several on site issues. But at the end of the day it seems if you make Google money, that's what matters apparently.

  • Hello idosmaccount, Sounds like your site is a news site? I'd probably need more information to help out. There's multiple approaches to this issue. If you've no-indexed or blocked off the pages in your robots.txt, you also lose the possible search traffic that those pages could bring. What other news sites have done to try to resolve this is to build in a on-page paywall similar to this https://www.straitstimes.com/sport/pocket-rocket-packs-a-punch This approach allows for a 'sneak peek' of the page's content, also allows for the page to be indexed, and also allows for the user that comes in via search traffic the chance to convert to a paid subscription that unlocks the page's content.

  • Yes that's right. But there are better ways of researching keywords. My favourites in order: Google search Moz keyword explorer. I shot a video of it here for page titles: https://carouselprojects.co.uk/crafting-killer-meta-titles/ This is for the beginner but I hope it's informative Regards NIgel

  • Hi manynau I would just do it anyway for best practice but it's not necessary as you have already said to ignore this URL and use the canonical. Sometimes even though a page is canonicalised to another it can occasionally pop up in Google and when it does you do not want it to be blank. Regards Nigel
