Google Doesn't Display A Right Page Title
Hi Bruno, Google does reserve the right to edit how page titles are displayed in search results and they are doing this more and more. In theory, they do this to actually improve user experience but because this is algorithmic, they can sometimes get it wrong or it may not look exactly how you want. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to stop Google from changing the title tags. I think they are less likely to change them if you have one that is well-written and relevant, but in reality, you're not going to make it relevant for every single keyword search that your site displays for. Here is a relevant piece of info from these Google guidelines: "If we’ve detected that a particular result has one of the above issues with its title, we may try to generate an improved title from anchors, on-page text, or other sources. However, sometimes even pages with well-formulated, concise, descriptive titles will end up with different titles in our search results to better indicate their relevance to the query. There’s a simple reason for this: the title tag as specified by a webmaster is limited to being static, fixed regardless of the query. Once we know the user’s query, we can often find alternative text from a page that better explains why that result is relevant. Using this alternative text as a title helps the user, and it also can help your site. Users are scanning for their query terms or other signs of relevance in the results, and a title that is tailored for the query can increase the chances that they will click through." Here are some good resources showing other examples of changing titles as they wish: http://www.blindfiveyearold.com/url-titles http://searchengineland.com/google-title-wrong-157819 I hope that helps! When You Add a Robots.txt file to a website to block certain URLs, do they disappear from Google's index?
Hi William If the pages in question are already indexed by Google then if you block them via the robots.txt , they will show up in search result but the meta description will say something along the lines of A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more. 2) not indexed by Google for example on a new site , they don't follow it and the pages does not come up in search directly BUT if some external sites link to the pages then they can still come up in the SERP some time down the track. Your best bet to keep the page out of the public SERP index is the meta robots tag : http://www.robotstxt.org/meta.html

Should I noindex, nofollow a lot of child pages?
it all comes down to the amount of content on the pages. hyper targeted pages like sizes usually don't get enough editor attention or have enough unique content written about them to make them valuable and in that case a main page listing the sizes will suffice because they will rank for those sizes if the content is on the page because it is so extremely long tail...and protects you from panda. I just went through this exercise with a pool company who had several brands and multiple sizes and we opted to not get so granular.

Ranked page is not desired page
See my frustration!? Yes. I see it. I see some of this in my own SERPs. In my SERPs that target items that are heavily purchased at Christmas the spammers buy a big load of links in the fall, get the rankings just before Christmas, then cut the links. Pisses me off every year.

I've just manually edited all the page titles and meta descriptions on a site, when will this show in Google results?
Hi Aoife, Vadim posted Google's official response. As a web developer who has worked on many sites over the years I can say it usually takes 1 to 3 weeks for those types of changes to be reflected in the SERP's. What I have found to be true is the more traffic you site has, the more likely Google is to be crawling it. Once crawled however, it still takes time for Google to update the results. Hope this helps, Don

How can I nofollow my affiliate links?
That would take forever! Seriously! But I have no programming skills whatsoever.

Should Ebay Affiliate Link Script Be NoFollow?
If the link is not an href and is javascript there is no need to add the rel nofollow attribute. However, if it is an href link, or an href tag is contained within the javascript on the page it is best to add a rel="nofollow" attribution within the href tag. I wouldn't rely on putting it within the div to work.

Should stop words be used in titles? I'm aiming for natural title structure.
I just gave a suggestion you have to do your keyword research to see what keyword makes sense to go with, aka the one that gives most focused traffic that you are after. As for body text vs title, the general consensus is to keep the keyword same in the title as in the body text, alt tags, meta description etc. Hope this helps!

Why Isnt My New Article Indexed?
I am guessing it is because of how you are implementing your breadcrumbs. Google is using your breadcrumbs to make a rich snippet. https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/185417?hl=en Hope this helps. Mike

Infinite Scrolling in On-Page Search Results
From a UX perspective, infinite scrolling will only work on certain type of sites (e.g. sites with lots of user-generated content that are short and concise). If users are expecting a never-ending list of info, such as Twitter, Facebook, this will be a good idea. However, for an ecommerce store, infinite scrolling may not be ideal. What the end-users want is to obtain the most appropriate result, rather than a variety of results. Using infinite scrolling in this case will be counter-productive instead. Users may be put off by irrelevant results and may feel difficult controlling their experience on your store, amongst many other reasons. There are reasons why Google has not implemented infinite scrolling for search results yet, and you should take these into account. Here's an article that may be useful to you: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/reach-a-definite-logical-end-using-infinite-scrolling/64008/

Is it SEO-wise to edit an already published article?
The page I'm talking about is more like an explanation about an offered service, but it doesn't have any on-page optimization. Great response. I will make sure to update the page and the entire website for that matter.
