Is the Search Love Conference worth the money?
I am entirely biased, as I help organise the conference and I am speaking, but yes, I believe it to be extremely good value for money. I speak at conferences around the world on a regular basis and, truthfully, I don't think anywhere has matched SearchLove in terms of the quality and depth of the presentations. We are extremely passionate about providing the best possible learning experience for attendees and I think we get better and better each year. Having already seen snippets of the presentation ideas from David Sottimano and Ade Lewis, I can promise the conference will be absolutely superb.

Duplicate Content for e-commerce help
Thanks. We have issues with our filter at present (it is Ajax I think) as it doesn't recognise when a variation is out of stock. Which pretty much makes the point of a filter useless. We need it tweaking which our web team are trying to do. Thanks

Conversion Tracking Emails?
You can track conversions in Google Analytics as others have mentioned here. But if you want to track the source of any particular individual email, then Google Analytics alone is not ideal. Here are some options - 1. Capture visitor data using the GA cookie and pass it along with each form submission. This is against GA's TOS so do it at your own risk but here is a blog post telling you how to do it - http://cutroni.com/blog/2009/03/18/updated-integrating-google-analytics-with-a-crm/. (The author of this blog post actually works for Google Analytics so it's kinda funny he tells you how to break their TOS...) 2. Use a contact form that automatically tracks conversions for leads, such as Convertable - (full disclosure - I'm a co-founder of Convertable but it solves the issue you are having). You can also try other similar paid services like HubSpot, Salesforce, BestContactForm.com, etc.

EdgeRank any good?
According to Marketing Land's Matt McGee's article on Aug 16, 2013, "EdgeRank Is Dead: Facebook’s News Feed Algorithm Now Has Close To 100K Weight Factors" http://marketingland.com/edgerank-is-dead-facebooks-news-feed-algorithm-now-has-close-to-100k-weight-factors-55908 According to the article, Facebook hasn’t used the word internally for about two-and-a-half years. That’s when the company began employing a more complex ranking algorithm based on machine learning. The current News Feed algorithm doesn’t have a catchy name, but it’s clear from talking to the company’s engineers that EdgeRank is a thing of the past. He goes on to say: EdgeRank is a thing of the past, and it’s been replaced by a machine learning-based algorithm that, as [Facebook's] Backstrom says, “only ever gets more complicated.” According to WikiPedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EdgeRank EdgeRank is the name commonly given to the algorithm that Facebook uses to determine what articles should be displayed in a user's News Feed… the term may be considered obsolete now... My $0.02 on this: Bit the bullet and spend the $6.95 or so to "promote" posts to your followers. This is the new cost of doing business. Make your content as engaging as possible, so that people want to share it, like it, and comment on it. Just because people don't like / share / comment doesn't mean that people don't see and read it from a branding perspective. I've posted photos on Facebook that get 15 likes, but a lot more people see it and enjoy it (they tell me in person, a week later). Hope this helps… -- Jeff

Using my Adwords budget
Campaigns will often naturally not perform great at the beginning. It is just a risk you have to take when creating them, so yes your %'s may drop to start with, but once you start optimising that campaign and its been running a while it should pick up and start converting as your other campaigns do providing you're doing everything right. one day is absolutely nothing. CTR'S, conversion rates and all kinds of PPC metrics can fluctuate HUGELY between only a few days. You need to let a campaign run for weeks before you fully assess what's going on. Obviously you should look at the campaign regularly to see if any keywords are seriously under performing (ie. Lots of impressions, few clicks and therefore a shocking CTR) and pause/delete these where appropriate, but otherwise you need to give them time. In order to avoid huge upsets to your other campaign metrics, start you new campaigns off with only Exact match keywords. Then as you see which keywords start to perform well, change those to Phrase match and keep moving up in this fashion as this allows you to identify which keywords will perform without destroying your accounts CTR and QS by immediately throwing out lots of broad match terms. This kind of methodology has always worked well for me Hope this helps.

Adwords Support...
I agree with David K. too - where are sales dropping and when did the trend begin? Check your conversion tracking to make sure it is set up and tracking properly. You an also write in to AdWords Support via the 'Help' link and ask them to confirm your conversion tracking is working correctly too. Tip for using Sitelinks: set them at the ad group level, and use the primary keyword for that ad group as the first sitelink. You need to set the sitelinks to go to different URLs than the primary destination URL. Example: If you ad group is structured around 'Prince George Christening Photos', make the first sitelink be the same phrase. Good CTRs.

How to title my products?
Thanks. I may take that approach with Arman Jeans Coat - Red set up. As I go into next 6 months I really want to push the on-site seo and get product meta titles and descriptions bang on the money.

Link to homepage or brand page?
Few years back you could totally go for all the links to the homepage if you wanted to have your homepage to rank well. These days Google looks at the link relevancy that was mentioned above, and also link diversification that is natural to multiple pages on your website. So another vote for "give them their brands page on your website" Hope this helps

New website and new domain
Hi, We are not using the same domain name as its not user friendly. It is brandname-online.com rather than brandnameonline.com or brandnameonline.co.uk. Its a pain in the arse for emails, telling people over the phone and general stuff regardless of the SEO side of it. Many people dont use the - We own the domain name but we can not take the website. So my thinking was that if we cant take the website, then we cant take all the links we have out there that go to anything other than the root domain brandname-online.com.? Is this correct? My problem is I dont think we can 301 all the individual products pages (some of which will have sold out anyways) to the new website? Rather we can just 301 the current domain to our new domain? Do I have that wrong? In brief... We have a website and a domain name We can not take the website itself We CAN take the domain name We have bought a new domain name We plan on 301'in the current domain to the new domain Do we have any work around for individual pages on current domain to get them to the new domain ? Or will our 301 on the current domain send all traffic to current site to our new websites homepage? THanks

How many keywords?
I don't think 50-100 KW is that much. I'm rarely targeting less than 30 on a very small site of 20-30 pages, and on an ecomm site, 1000+ KW is nothing out of the ordinary. Resources, as you say, are the governing factor in determining how many KWs you'll be going after simultaneously. I'm usually only focusing on a handful at a time.

Micro sites?
The reason why would be for multiple 1st page positions in the serps for the same keyword phrases. Most sites are not lucky enough to get rewarded with host crowding positions (your same domain ranking multiple times on the first page) but if you have microsites that you are able to get ranked now you have several first page positions. If you are addressing different targets, this can be accomplished probably easier with your main, established already trusted site. Google is addressing exact match domains as a ranking factor for exact reason. Microsites are spammy and grey hat and outside of Google's webmaster guidelines if addressing the same targets.

How to count my urls?
Screaming Frog can spider a site - free version handles up to 500 pages. Alternatively, xml-sitemaps.com does something similar... but what an odd hosting package!
