Do having keywords in the domain name still help?
If the domain supports the content I think it is ok and even slightly helpful. You are better served to employ a strong local content strategy combined with good off page local SEO. I think this would serve you in a better way.

What Wordpress Update Services Should You Be Using on Your Wordpress Blog?
Hi, Ive been using wordpress for a while now and am just starting to look at this. I have two questions; 1. What are the benefits of adding more update services (as mentioned above)? 2. Is it just as simple as adding these in (comma seperated) under setting: writing - update services? Or do you need to register with each one? Thanks in advance Dean

How to get content to index faster in Google.....pubsubhubbub?
Hey Nathan A link from any well crawled resource will help - you will see that Q&A posts on SEOMoz can be indexed in minutes which is kind of crazy. But, a general tip is to link out to any new content from your Google+ account. Ultimately, if you publish loads of content and are well regarded, you will index quickly. If not, you can sit back and hope or try to get a few links to that content from resources that are indexed somewhat quicker and piggy back on those. Hope that helps! Marcus

When optimizing videos for a website should the Alt and Title be the same or different?
Different for sure, but use a keyword in the title and in the alt text. Alt text should really be pretty tied to the actual video.

If your site has used www for the last few years is it a good idea to direct to non www?
I just installed webbug. Do I just enter the url and then click "get"? Where would I typically see if it's giving me a 301? Does having a trailing slash make a url different than the same url without the trailing slash?
Thanks for the responses. I found a good explanation here also http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/04/to-slash-or-not-to-slash.htmlThis post from Google Webmasters says that either one is fine. Just make sure you do one or the other.Regarding your root domain - Rest assured that for your root URL specifically, http://example.com is equivalent to http://example.com/ and can’t be redirected even if you’re Chuck Norris.

Website URL Structures - Which does Google prefer or does it matter?
Thanks CMC! Others I have discussed with said it doesn't matter and that their is no "preferred" structure. One person said: Google uses urls only at the spidering stage and then reintroduces them when composing the SERPs but the "machine" does not use them at all - your pages are known by an internal number, not the url. As long as the urls are easily spiderable the urls do not matter

Canonical Meta Tag Best Practices
I prefer to think of it as "index control", since PR sculpting has a history of being abused, but you've covered the big ones. Obviously, good site architecture is the first step. If they tag exists in 2012, I pretty much covered it in this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/duplicate-content-in-a-post-panda-world

How can competition outrank you if your site has better Domain/Page Authority, More links, and More Social sharing?
I have 2 free eBooks which got me to 9 on Google US for a secondary and 20 - 30 for my main primary keywords. I'm new to SEO joined SEO moz abour 2 months ago. scribd dot com for example is Page and Domain Authority over 90, I've a link on there but I don't know if they give juice. Free ebooks dot net have over 70 P and D authority. A free eBook you can use forever with no duplicate content issues becasue it's either downloaded or linked to your page to download (I might be wrong as the book description is the same). Either way it gets me access to many places I would otherwise not get. I've already been contacted by a charity (for children's literature) to use / link to one of them. While I was writing it I would never have dreamed to give it away for free so I put a lot of effort in at the time, it is 132 pages long (the guitar one). If you're writing an eBook that you know will be free you have to make it good, like 50 pages, and good enough content that your link is merely informative. Because I write books this suits me but if there's an area you are knowledgable about then it could be something to consider.
