I have analyzed the link profile of the company and they have lots of links back from all of their clients past and present including myself. Will this be how they are ranking quite well for "liverpool seo"?

I am that angry I am going to contact the past clients that I am aware of to let them know they are still linking back to the company even though they are not present clients.

Is there any way to check the toxicity of the other links in my link profile?

What I mean by the title tag is did it affect my higher ranking ranking on a places listing? I am aware it is not just about a title tag to get good results. Although I have been on a places listing before for the keywords "liverpool photographer" without having those keywords in my home page title.

Thank you for the thread for the uk tools, and regarding alternative forms of marketing I have a few affiliations with venues and attend weeding fairs, so I am not putting all my eggs in one google basket!

Are you saying that the content on my site is affecting which keywords google will give me in it's places listings?

I am aware also of my places listing for liverpool weeding photographer, it was around the letter C before Christmas so I am trying to ad as many citations as I can at the moment to get me back up.

Can you explain what you mean about the meta description a little more?

Hi I have been manually adding my details to local/national directories in order to help my ranking in my google places placing. It is a bit of a grind, and I am aware there are tools out there. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with any of them? I am UK based. Also I was ranking for "Liverpool Photographer" on google places for a couple of months and it brought in quite a bit of work, although I have since slipped back to about 15th, so out of the visible results. I am mainly a wedding photographer so my home page was optimised mainly for "liverpool wedding photographer" Although I hired an SEO company who changed the home page title to "liverpool photographer", I cannot remember if I was ranking on places for this keyword because of this change or I was already in the results before the changes were made. So my question is how Can I rank for "liverpool photographer" and "Liverpool wedding photographer" on a places result at the same time?

Sorry I haven't made myself clear. None of the 'crap' is on my site. They were writing articles, blog posts and they were being posted elsewhere, with a link back to my site.

I have been in a panic since last year when keywords stopped having a big impact on search results. I had keywords in my url which allowed me to put my head in the sand regarding link building. Google is such a massive client source but you need to be on first page.

So blog like crazy, let people know on facebook twitter, etc... obviously try and write inspired stuff, and it will all come back around?

Is this pro bono work? I have been stuck in short term strategies, I have just stopped using an Indian company who were writing crap content and placing on what looked like sites they had set up. I was not paying a lot but I never saw any difference in the 3 months I was employing them. Before that it was a Uk small firm, but neither have done much.

It's all about confidence isn't it? I'll be honest I wanted an easy life, but I think paying for SEO does not work anymore. I intend to get blogging and build it up the right way.

I think as a wedding photographer there are not that many long tail phrases, You state on your profile good content will beat SEO. A seminar I attended hosted by a wedding photographer ranking nationally (UK) said all he has ever done is blogged and let people know about it on twitter and facebook. This is what he recommended, find your voice and start talking about it.

where would they exist in the website? would they have tabs in the menu?

HI thanks for the response. What is strong enough? If I am trying to break into other areas ie manchester my keyword 'manchester wedding photographer' unless placed on the home page is not really going to have a chance is it?

A friend who is in the wedding video business has all of his keywords in the title tag of his home page (about 10) and he does ok in other areas. I must admit the video business is not as hard to rank in but it's food for thought.

Hi, what is the technique for ranking for keywords?

Can you optimise a web page for more than one keyword? My moz report is telling me that a keyword I want to rank for is not in the page title, as it stands my page title has one keyword phrase.

Sorry for such a newbie question, my understanding is you home page carries the most weight, so you would place your most wanted keywords there?

The big question is, how many keywords per page?

I have read that the 301 redirect passes more link juice to the original page. Although I am still trying to figure out how to actually physically do it!

I know you can use a plug in for wordpress, have you had any experience yourself implementing the rel'canonical' or 301 redirect?
