Are Directory links relevant?
I would approach directory link building, as with any other form of linking, as a way to attract new traffic to your site. Pursue a link opportunity, not because it will provide link juice to your site, but rather, drive an engaged consumer who will ultimately convert. The goal is all about getting more traffic to your site, not to rank on Google/Bing, right? I manage 5 national brands with over 900 locations across the US. Our link profile is heavily weighted on directories that are both popular and industry specific. This helps drive a very large amount of visitors to our pages that ultimately become a lead. We don't go after a directory listing unless it will deliver a visitor who will fill out a form or call. otherwise, what's the point?

How to associate content on one page to another page
Yeah, I'm afraid Chris is right. There's really no way to tell Google to index both pages but then not give them control over which one ranks. Google is naturally going to prefer the full content page, because they want to get people to the best "answer", in a sense. Truthfully, I think it's a better search user experience, in most cases. Internal search users can travel from the snippet to the post, but search users may get frustrated at going from Google's results to your results, and not straight to the resource. If you force the first step on search users, you may actually increase your bounce rate and harm your overall performance.

Deleting 30,000 pages all at once - good idea or bad idea?
Hi This happened to a co. I was working with recently who deleted thousands of pages without notifying the SEO team, this led to lots of work in WMT and lots of digging around to understand where we had lost links. If you've got a load of inbound links pointing at these pages and nothing has been done 301s etc then watch your DA fall, as happened to this company. Ouch. This is what happens when Tech don't "like" marketing.
