Will links to a subdomain help it rank?
Sub domains act as their own domain essentially, a separate section which won't share weight unless specifically linked to. Sub domains are indexed in search engines separately to the root domain and subsequently, building links to these will influence ranking. If you concentrate your efforts in ranking the root domain, this won't necessarily help your sub domain rank, if we were talking sub directories, then this would as flow of authority and weight can pass through the site. Treat the sub domain as it's own website and initiate it's own strategy for this space would be my recommendation.

Outbound Links to Authority sites
Well put! I link out to a lot of .gov sites because they contain information that my customers find useful. As long as you are keeping your customers' needs in mind when writing content and/or linking, you are on the correct path.

Adding a picture page - Good or Bad?
There are a few reasons. If you look at the rest of the pages from my site, the company I sell for also sells lots of other products that have "celebrity" trainers, plus there are some fun pics of TV placement spots. Lots of "fun stuff" that I'd like to add that just didn't happen to work on a product page. Plus, it would give me more material to Pin on Pinterest to help drive traffic. I guess my real question is... From a strictly SEO aspect, would it be detrimental to my site to have a Gallery page with links back to some of my other pages?

Fresh content ideas for a static site?
I've just built an eCommerce site as well, and it can definitely be tricky to keep the information fresh, especially if you're in a market that's not constantly releasing the newer, faster, better versions of the products you're selling, or if you have a small niche-focused inventory. Like Alan said, updating a section of the homepage with snippets from a separate blog or industry news is a wonderful way to keep fresh content on your homepage, and it also lets potential customers know that you actively maintain your site and are knowledgeable about the products you sell. Another thing you might consider is dedicating a section of your homepage to a featured product or special that changes once a month or so. If you do go this route, don't just put a picture of the product under a heading that says "Featured Product" with a link to the product page. A small variation in content like that won't do much good. Dedicate a little more time and space to the section and provide product descriptions, reviews, etc on the homepage itself. -Anthony

Sudden SERP stop for main keyword.
two other possibilities. gwt says severe site health issue. robot.txt is blocking some important page. but is a .js file that website tonight claims is standard protocol and that it is just an image file. secondly i foolishly renamed my homepage and it caused a duplicate content issue. go daddyl/website tonight won't allow me to use a 301 redirect. but those wouldnt only happen to one particular keyword.

How to track PPC conversions?
Appreciate that you're trying to help. I gave it a shot but that when I try to add the first step to the head section it tells me that it is not a valid script.

Google previews meanings
The zig-zag tears are just showing that they've snipped part of the middle of the page out -- they're showing you stuff that matches your query at the top and bottom of your pages, and removing some of the stuff from the middle that doesn't match your query. You'll see the same thing in print regarding graphs if something is taken out of the X-axis.

I would just like to add: If you're considering signing up for something (SEV), you may as well get a real hosting package.
