It seems that Google is giving respect to "Big School" because of it's overall authority. If you like to continue this approach, you might need to work on the overall authority of "New School" to get things straight.

Frankly speaking, I wouldn't go with this strategy as there are lots of other ways to leverage your new site from the old one. For instance, you may place the attractive banners at the "Tourism" page that point to your new school and stuff like that.

I reckon your "New School" is not offering lots of degree courses so yes you can get the link from "Big School's" content but make sure, you are linking in a proper and natural way.

I do not think you need to worry about in terms of "link building" with this. But, if you're dealing with duplicate content issues then it's advisable to go with the preferred URL that google is showing or implement a redirection.

You may come up with headings like that according to your page to eliminate any confusion.

And yes I agree the content length would be extended but this is what a visitor expects when he visit a particular degree page, i.e. to get all the information. If you think, the page would look ugly you may come up with cool graphics, in-page content navigation and things like that to make it more user-friendly.

Your navigation structure seems good to me but as far as your link structure is concerned, I have some thoughts. So these are your suggested placements,

langhe.net/travel/winery-tours/name-of-tour/ or
langhe.net/wine/wineries/tours/name-of-tour/

So here you're going with more than three folders which IMO is not a smart way. Why don't you go with something like.

langhe.net/Italian-tours-best-Barolo-and-Barbaresco (Italian tour is the tour name, Barolo and Barbaresco is the wine) [Sorry I'm not familiar with wines and Italian tours:) You need to correct it]

In this way, you can target long phrases keywords and the URLs will look way better for users and remains SEO friendly.

Hey Oksana,

It's a good approach to know the related keywords before uploading a new video on YouTube. For this, go to http://keywordtool.io/'s YouTube section and get all the keywords data.

You can add a long tail keyword in title but make sure it makes some sense. For the description, it's recommended to use the main keywords in the first 3-4 lines.

I would like to know what's the main reason that forcing you to change the existing URL? Is it because of the ranking? If yes, then how old is your current URL's format? And what about the traffic stats of this page, is it among the high ones or a last bencher?  If everything is alright then I don't think you need to take a risk of changing/updating your URL.

You can change/update the URL if:

1. It's a polluted URL (contains codes, special characters, parameters and other garbage)
2. You're no longer offering those services specifically but as the Page Authority is good you don't want to remove that page.

In the above cases, you can consider for changing the URL with a 301 redirect. As the Jason said, 301 does preserve the PR and other metrics.

Remember, you might see a temporary ranking drop after implementing the 301 redirect. So make sure to have a proper action plan before.

Yes it's becoming a common practice as it looks good. The problem with the infinitive scrolling is the use of Java Script. As we all know, Google does not read java script really well so it only reads your top section of page and ignore the scrolling area.

For the best practice, it's suggested to use pagination with scrolling. There is also a plugin available that take care of this issue but I haven't used it yet. It's called "infinite ajax scroll".

This is the common problem in E-Commerce world. I'm sure Christy will give you the best solution for this.

I'd suggest is, if the products are low in number, it's better to replace the content with fresh copy or at least provide some user-gernaterd content on the pages to stand out.

I agree, this site could combine these both pages not only to rank better but to get a very good response from users and attract links. I am not sure but seems they might did it intentionally to rank better on different keywords. Though, the idea is bit old but it's still working

I suppose that in this scenario, when Google (presenting two lines from the same site on first page) is easy to outrank at least one result by producing something more powerful and interesting. I did that in past once and it's worked out.

Abbas, if you also publish 3-5 features post, I'd love to know the bounce rate, traffic stats and social count of them. If they are low, it means you need to seriously work on the promotion strategy.

For handling those 404s, it's better to redirect them on relevant pages. Check out these resources for handling redirection:

I agree with Todd. You should have come up with strong points that makes google to relate your branded search query with your web. As your brand is the real one and been in business from many years, they are more experienced, understand the needs of audience and surely can supply ample amount of knowledge as compare to other company.

Though, it will take bit time and lots of effort but it's worth time investing.

I won't recommend skipping H1/H2 tags for **. These tags have specific purposes and they should be use accordingly. Having H1 as the page/post title shows that what your page will about so it's better to use them.

As for the http://www.muscleandfitness.com, even they are using the H1 in post titles. For example, check out this link:

This sounds really scary! I have to look at the URL before making any final comment on this.

IMO, there could be several reasons for this. You have to explore this from every way. Are you sure, the site is completely recover? I have some reservations on that.
