What to do with some good links I have?
Would it not be better to link to the specific product page related to the page I have? I would recommend linking to the most relevant page. If your site is about web design and you have a badge promoting web design, then linking to your home page is fine. If the badge is about graphics design, then you can link to your graphics design page instead of your home page. Your SEO factors will be best served if you sincerely try to help users find information they are seeking. Also I can do a canonical to the service pages? Canonicals are used when you have multiple pages sharing the same information but presented in a different format. It sounds like these services pages display different information, so a canonical tag should not be used. It is ok to have some overlap between pages.

Google Webmaster Tools reports 404s for plain text. Should I create those URLs and 301 them to actual pages?
Hi Svetoslav, Great question because I saw exactly something like this a couple of weeks ago in our own Google Webmaster Tools. Google tried to crawl "urls" on our side which were used to generated pageviews for Google Analytics by using the _trackPageview. So we had a lot of urls like "/print" within our Not Found crawl errors. I won't recommend creating new URLs and using a 301 redirect to "cover" them, for a couple of reasons: From my opinion the Not Found errors do not harm you're rankings within the SERPs, to give you an idea or maybe you experienced it yourself. We have ten thousands of Not Found errors because our content changes on a daily basis and we saw it makes no sense. Google is trying to crawl urls which don't exist because they are text, so it looks like to me they are doing something wrong. And I also would like to share this thread from WebmasterWorld ( ), it includes an interesting angle in my opinion: "S_ave the 301 (and its machine process) for important cases"._ What do you think?

Chop down a .com to local domains - Is it worth it?
Thanks Ryan! The folder structure is what saved the site when one of our bigger sites went for local domains. THey were poorly maintained and in 6 months time they went under. What I will do is try the local domains on AdWords. I will use the canonical link element to try and pass any possible links the local sites might gather. The flag idea is great. We will refresh the design soon and we will have them in mind. In a way I will use AdWords to try and gather some natural links. At one point I might test the new domains on their own, once the have enoigh links. Stephen, I'm afraid I can't use the redirect in this case. That is, if I don't want to be lynched by a mob of angry web developers. However, your idea makes sense. I will give it a go on a smaller site and see what happens there. Thanks guys!

How can I make use of multiple domains to aid my SEO efforts?
I was just thinking about this very thing this morning, get to the office and bang... there's the exact question. What if the "secondary domain", the other ones I own, what if their url's are more keyword rich than my primary domain name. Your answer seemed the most intuitive and beneficial to long term goals... pouring time into a "dummy site". Should we just be using these as vanity urls for tracking specific campaigns. I'd have to admit... some of the urls I own are a little easier to remember and focused on a specific service (ex. seowhatever .com), than my primary domain name, which is my name! They've got to have more value... some are pretty darn good urls... the kind where you tell your buddy you bought it and he says, "THAT WAS AVAILABLE!!!!".
