Hi Paddy,
Your answer prompted me to dig a little further and I have just found that it already has a dynamic one..under /Blog/sitemap.axd.
This raises 2 more questions for me:
1. what is axd, is it ok to use axd not xml.
2. Can a site have 2 sitemaps. I will have 1 in www.example.com/sitemap.xml and 1 in www.example.com//Blog/sitemap.axd. Is that ok? Anything to be aware of with this set up?
Thanks
Andrew
Hi
We have a static sitemap and a blog...Uh oh! We are are just realizing that the 2 are not very compatible!! We need a dynamic sitemap. Is there such a thing as a "set and forget" sitemap that updates itself without us maintaining a database of sitemap data?
Thanks
Andrew
Thanks Alan all done so far so good thanks for your help
Hi
Is adding tags into Blogs a good idea? Does it help with SEO at all?
For example blog/?tag=/Invoicing-Software Will that help us get ranked for Invoicing Software?
Regards
Andrew
Hi Alan,
Thanks, we are using IIS, could you please explain how to do this further please. Do you think this maybe the cause of google not seeing and indexing HTTPS page?
Thanks
Andrew
Hi
Thank you both for your responses. Alan your point is very interesting. The main reason for asking the question is because we are desperately trying to find a solution to why our HTTPS page is not being indexed by google 6 weeks after going live. There are 2 other SEOMoz posts by us that have not been able to answer this "Mystery"
www.seomoz.org/q/why-isn-t-google-indexing-our-site
www.seomoz.org/q/why-is-our-page-will-not-being-found-by-google
The HTTPS page in question HTTPS://www.invoicestudio.com/Secure/invoiceTemplate is in fact references via a link at the bottom of HTTP://www.invoicestudio.com (note no "S").
Alan could you please explain your answer further as I do not fully understand what you are saying but it sounds like the HTTP link to HTTPS maybe causing the issue and would like to explore further to solve this long standing issue that is very important to us.
Thanks
Andrew.
Hi,
Should I, or do I need to, use HTTPS (note the "S") in my canonical tags?
Thanks
Andrew
Hi,
We have a page that went live nearly 2 months ago. https://www.invoicestudio.com/Secure/InvoiceTemplate
Why does google not notice it. Both site: URL's return nothing.
site:www.invoicestudio.com/Secure/InvoiceTemplate
site:www.invoicestudio.com/Secure
This is an important page for us and do not understand why google doesn't like it.
Hope you can help
Thanks
Andrew
Hi,
SEOMoz on-page analysis is reporting that our blog has duplicate content when technically it doesn't.
Is this something that we need to address as it will actually be hurting our ranking or is this just a SEOMoz software quirk?
There is 100+ example like this but here is one example. SEOMoz is reporting
http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio?page=1
and
http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio?page=2
as a duplicate content and Title Tag.
Thanks
Andrew
Thank you all for your responses. It is strange. we are going to add a link to our g+ page and then add a post.
As a new site what is the best way to get our domain authority up so we get crailed quicker?
Thanks again
Andrew
Hi checked XML, its there if you view source it just doesn't have a stylesheet
Hi thanks about 1 month. The blog page you are getting maybe the old ones,as they are working this end http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog . What you have mentioned re the blog is part of the problem. Google has the old site and not the new.
Thanks. I will look into the sitemap. That only went live about an hour ago whilst this thread has been going on.
