I totally agree with you on this. This is a personal blog, I get about 80 000 unqiues a month but would like to push it up a notch. I feel that my only downfall is getting enough posts. I can only manage 1 -2 posts max a week and I feel that this is harming my user engagement. I agree on some of the indian developers and writers, the bulk of them don't understand too well and can be funny lol.

RE: WordPress E-Commerce Plugin Duplicate Content Problem
Hi there, If memory serves me correctly. Yoast has an option which allows you to remove the catagory for any post. This should apply for the commerce products too. Please let me know if this helps you. regards Stef

RE: Content Writers / Blog Posts
Thanks Robert
Much appreciated advice

What are your thoughts on these blog posters that do mass posting at close to zero rates(i think they pay around $2 per post?)? I have a few big guys who own massive blogs and i know that they utilize these services and are having great results...
Any thoughts?

RE: H1 tag in Blank in Wordpress website
Hi Maria
I had the same issue and this helped me.
Regards
Stef
Have a copy of your current theme. If not, make one!
Change the code of the blog title and subtitle.
Open Header.php and look for:
/”>bloginfo(‘name’); ?>
Replace the H1-tags by SPAN-tags, like this:
Don’t forget to add an id to the span tag!
Do the same for the H2-tags; look for:
And replace the H2-tags by SPAN-tags like this:
Don’t forget to add an id to the span tag!
Now change the css, open the Styelesheet (style.css).
Search for h1.art-logo-name and replace it everywhere by span.art-logo-name
Search for h2.art-logo-text and replace it everywhere by span.art-logo-textOpen wrappers.php and find the following code:
’.$title.’
And replace the H2-tags by H1-tags:
’.$title.’

RE: Google ranking for the term "locum tenens"
Hi there Jason
Look at building those back links. This is an important aspect and you can find loads of articles and posts in the SEOMOZ Blog to verify this and where you should start.
I had a look at your website and these are my thoughts:
- No Website Name in Website Title(Home Page). Your keywords are your title. I would look at adding the company name to the title of website(Meta Title). having keywords in my opinion is a bit spammy and not ranking potentially for branded terms like your business name is a major downfall.
- I would also suggest adding those keywords in a well written meta description. i see that this is missing and a downfall for you.
- Check your keyword density for those terms. Dont go over 6% on one given page.
- You seem to optimizing all the pages for those terms. So how would the search engines know which page is the right page? Dont duplicate or make pages / titles seem the same.
Hope that this helps.

RE: Homepage Menu Change
Hi Rush
In the contrary, i belive that a well tested change to navigation can indeed aid in your overall stats and kpi's. Better navigation can lead to users staying on the site longer and in turn could lead to better conversions.
I would suggest using split testing and see which pages and navigation structures would lend to better user participation and navigation. Look at using Google Website optimizer.
Hope that this gives you some answers

RE: How to transfer posts from a specific category into a subdomain
Hi Micahel
Yes, you can export articles and redirect pages/posts to other urls.
Exporting:
- Go to tools.
- Select export
- Select what you would like to export ie. Posts, Pages or all content.
- You can from there select more parameters.
Importing
- Tools
- Select import
- Import information
- Sorted

Redirects
There is a great redirect plugin i like to use called: **Quick page / Post Redirect ** . This will help you redirect any pages, post to another url.

RE: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Is there value in a presence on them?
Hi Robert
Apologies for the late reply. beena crazy few days here in South Africa

well lets put this into context. Having a Facebook presence and advertising on facebook using a PPC or CPM campaign are two different entities.
I agree, from my experience, advertising a product for lead generation on Facebook for instance has been a waste of time and doesd not convert well at all to sales.
I feel generally facebook users are there to have fun and pass the time rather than look for great deals and buy things.
However, Facebook and using Facebook advertsfor branding and general brand awereness is pretty powerfull.
Imagine the ripple effect of having 1000 users, who view your status and actually like it or comment or view it a few times. This gets fed into on to their wall and is seen by another 100 friends. So potentially you can reach 100 000 people with minimum effort. Once again, you arent selling anything but you are building your brand awerness. Zero cost, all to gain.
All networks have their pro's and con's. You need to find what is important for the long term benift of your client and then strategise from their. perform your own tettst and start compiling data for that particular client on social media platforms.
I hope that this helps youa little more

RE: What would you do if a site's entire content is on a subdomain?
Hi there,
So just to make sure. The structure would be as follows:
shop.mydomain.com/categoryA/productname
shop.mydomain.com/categoryB/productname1
???
-
RE: Google Site Search
I would totally recommend Google Sitesearch.
I found that in our latest client, they manage to increase conversion rates and thus increasing their profits...coincidence? Nope.
I found that the display of results enticed the users to stay on for longer and make it more engaging. It’s faster than a open source search engine

Hope this helps. I would really love to give a demo and stats on my clients work but i cant due to a confidentiality clause.

Two thumbs Up!

RE: What is the difference between advertizing and a paid link?
Hi Brett
Great question. Firtly let me start off by saying clarifying some terms : Pey Per Click(PPC) and CPM cost per 1000 impressions. These are the two most basic forms of "advertising" which can be found on Google and Google Networks.
Google Ads
Google is a search engine - duh! So the PPC and CPM campaigns are geared towards returning results and adverts which are related to that users specific rearch requiremnts. These adverts can be very effective, asd they appeal directly to that users search patterns and search criteria. Keeping this in mind, the "advertisers" have more of a likely chance to attract targeted traffic which in turn can be converted to a potential sale.
CPC campaigns genarally are associated with companies trying to get high convesrions for really competitive markets on a limited budget. Not a rule just though at all.
CPM campaigns are genrally used to be in your face advertising and branding campaigns as if done correctly, the overall longterm running of these adverts can be low.
For both of these types. Remember quality of advert and research is vital to improve conversions and lowering costs over time. Research , Research, Research is key.
General Website Advertising
Advertsing on other website is very broad. Form what i can gather you are refering to buying sponosred links on other websites. This can be very valuable if done correctly. However, if not done correctly then you could do much harm on your website.
Choose webistes that are relevant to your market. The difference here is that the link can add an authoritive link pointing to your website which in turn ups your authority.
For more information please have alook over this great articles and the refernaces:

RE: How do you keep a record of your onsite SEO changes
Just like Alan,
I use excel but it also gets a bit hard over tome with rows and rows of data being collected.
I ike to keep each section tabbed and this allows me to track things far easier.
