Penguin Penalty On A Duplicate url
Hi Tom Thanks for your reply and useful help. Your advice about the 301 tallies with what others have said about the matter. With regard to your indexing question only the ranking url is being indexed. Thanks again for your help.

# in url affecting rank
I had similar question, but I found this discussion so won’t send my questions as a new one. My questions was that is it a SEO (link juice) problem when we did 301 redirects from http://www.example.com/folder to http://www.anotherdomain.com/folder/#rdr=oldsite We added the hash / parameter to get stats how many visits do we get from the old site now and in the future, and with the help of hash in url we can get this information from our analytics tool. After reading Mike’s answer, I believe I found my answer and understand that this is not a problem, but if anyone have other comments then please respond. Thanks!

What is the best way to resolve duplicate content issue
No worries Alex I mean, contacting the webmasters would technically be simpler, but the chances that you're going to get a response, never mind a take-down of your content, is going to be pretty slim. Hence I suggested the rewriting. It's a pain in the arse and requires you to do more work because of someone's laziness, which if course isn't right. But hopefully, with the fresh content and the tags in place, you'll be given the full credit. In addition, if any of the content come in the form of blog posts, or if you'd like to do this site-wide, implementing a rel=author tag and verifying Google authorship would again be a signal to Google that your content is original. Here are a couple of handy guides to help with the markup: http://searchengineland.com/the-definitive-guide-to-google-authorship-markup-123218 http://www.vervesearch.com/blog/seo/how-to-implement-the-relauthor-tag-a-step-by-step-guide/

Does anybody do directory submissions anymore?
To me, asking if you should submit to directories is like asking if you should post on forums or comment on blogs. Not all directories are the same. There are some well maintained directories, and many times over the years the submissions to these directories help rankings. Interesting that the Link Acquisition Tool in labs here on Seomoz points a user of that tool to lots of directories. One person that has maintained a wonderful directory list for almost 10 years now is Dan over at info.vilesilencer.com and great place to start if you want to include some smaller but well maintained directories in your SEO (and lists the larger ones too).
