See what I would do like I said was put social buttons on it, to try and and gather some social signals to those articles but then anchor text link out of the content to a page with a term that does generate traffic. Maybe you can use those articles to help the SEO of other pages.

I bold keywords as a way of emphasizing particular words or indicators. If I am trying to provide some detailed instructions or help and advice I will bold a section so the reader knows this is a very important part of the process. Everyone has different perceptions on the use of bold in text but if it actually helps the reader then it will also help the SEO part. I agree obvious bolding of text is so old skool and so obvious at times. Be authentic .
