Appreciate the link. Wondering if you know anything about the code used to redirect all of it in your htcaccess file? I'm glad to hear I don't need to create a hundred redirects, but do want to make sure I am using the correct apache code to do for all.

Thanks, I agree it can be good for the user, in our case it shows the high calibre of clients we work with, which in turn makes us look good and is completely relevant. We're a service company, so we don't write blogs at this point. But just having a page explaining projects we've worked on with links to the clients it what works I think. I will search for you post!

If you need more complete backlink data for your site, use Google Webmaster Tools and/or Bing Webmaster Tools.

I assume the new url format / structure is also the new inner link structure (all links in the site are updated with the new format). if this is the case the indexation is based on this not based on old urls following the 301s. As far as testing them - did you test to see what response code do you get when accessing the old urls ? Though I don't understand why you'd submit a sitemap with the old urls? ** To send google's bot to crawl those and see the 301s and delist them from the index. How do you ping it? ** There are a lot of free services available that you can use - just run a search and you will have several to choose from.
