I checked his backlink profile, he is on no. 2 for Search term "f--k buddy" & he is getting links from unique 27 domains. I see his backlinks too, backlinks are not so good..
I think the reason why his ranking is not drop or are on no.2 is because of his domain name & the domain age (Created Date : 1st May 2006)..

Redirection is not something to fix this.. Yes, you are right because of the "name" sitelinks are not coming up in search engine..
Here is the example :
Search with "Matt Cutts" (Name) site links will not appear, but if you search with "matt cutts gadgets" or "matt cutts gadgets google and seo" the site links will appear.

James, Is your competitor doing only press release ? As per the video, links from Press release doesn't affect SEO directly but when the content is published on several sites, it might get into the eye and he might share it out that helps in SEO. Matt Cutt has mentioned that in last part of Video.

You can write content on other niche but in author signature you can link back to your website. Your approach towards content matters. For example: You can write for seo blog with Title "How I got top 20 ranking in just 2 month for my blog ?" In this blogpost, you can mention your blogs URL. Its 100% natural so you will get benefit. Do you know the latest full form of seo ? After latest Google update, it is search experience optimization not search engine optimization. If your latest theme makes site better for your visitor then search engine also going to like it, nothing negative in it.

How you are checking it ?
I have just typed site:profitok.com and found "26 results", it means Google has indexed 26 pages from your website.
Google doesn't crawl URL with "#" in it. You can also check out your URL, it will not be in Google index...so you need not to be worry about it.
