Yeah, I know can you believe it Anyway, look we know lots of websites are doing it, yes even the big brands and are ranking well due to this strategy, I suppose having a big budget to play with, the temptation is just too much.

I am paranoid also, isn't everyone in this industry, I mean if you do follow Google's guidelines, there is no way you are going to rank well for competitive keywords, I look across all industries, especially retail and they are all it.

You have got to be more aggressive I think to gain good SERPs

Look it's far less spammy than what my competitors are doing, these guys are big brands, they have exact anchor text links on non-relevant websites, all the big players are doing it, i'm not saying monkey see monkey do, I just thought it was thinking outside the box a little rather than putting exact anchor text links on non-relevant websites, and the bizarre thing is, my competitors are ranking well for these keywords, and yes it's the only link building strategy they have and been doing so for years.

I'm sure it's not a big surprise to hear the above, even with the panda update, it just does not catch these websites out.

One of my main strategies is writing guest posts and these are improving the SERPs for the target keywords, if you sticking to the guidelines, even guest posting would not be allowed, I mean your deliberately forcing the back-link, Google says everything should come naturally, yeah right!

I doubt that the fall in PR was because you did not have a nofollow.

Ok, the ad is on an external website, usually these  ads are just images pointing to our website, however I thought that by producing the ad in a way that the text on the ad can be read by search engines, I would get 2 benefits, first of all the ad will generate traffic to the website, plus it will pass SEO value to the website with the ability of being able to read the anchor text, OK, yes I have paid for this ad, however if I use a nofollow, surely this is a great opportunity lost in gaining a great back link from an authority website.

Does Google parse javascript?

I have a html ad which contain the anchor text linking to one of our product pages, however the ad unit are javascript based and from this the code is not visible on page source through the browser.

I am going to give it a week or so, just to see what happens next, as I do believe making those changes on page will have a positive affect.

Over the past few hours or so, I was just making some checks to make sure all the links that were pointing into the page were still live, and not changed to a nofollow etc, all seems good. Checked for crawl errors etc, you name it I have done it, i'm rather confused on this one. I have been doing SEO for quite sometime now, but this was one I just can't get my head around.

I am referring to Google. For one particular keyword, I had been ranked pos.3 for quite sometime now, a highly competitive keyword.

The 2 websites above me have lower PA, less linking root domains, looks like poorer quality backlinks, lower PR, so I did a bit more digging on this and thought that it maybe due to my keyword density being too high compared to the 2 website above, so I reduced the KD, then few days later it dropped by 7 positions, surely it can't be for that change? I mean the on-page optimization tool in SEOMOZ report says that I still have way to many mentions of the targeted keyword and now it has less mentions when it was on Pos.3

I think it's highly unlikely that it's the keyword density, but a freaky coincidence that the first time I made any changes on the page for months, it drops. I have checked for crawl errors, nothing there.

I just noticed that some of my best performing keywords have taken a drop down the ranking by maybe 10 positions, some of them being ranked no.1 for quite sometime.

My link building activities are such things as guest posting on relevant and topical websites and always have original content.

Is it a coincidence?

For many months now I have been using the keyword analysis tool in SEOMOZ checking my own page authority & linking root domains, nothing changed on any of these keywords except for improvement on SERPs, however today I have noticed at the same time some of my best performing keywords have dropped is that the page authority & linking root domains for those keywords changed also, and for the better but dropped in SERPs.

Any idea on what's going on? anyone experienced this?

The non-commercial domain has a domain authority of 46, it has 61 linking root domains, 151 external links. Although not great reading, it attracts over 40,000 visits from natural search (Mainly Google) so from this alone with not many external links pointing at the website, the articles surely have value or authority from Google, an example being one of the pages is no.1 for a particular keywords attracting over 4,000 visits from natural search and this page has no external links pointing at it.

Hopefully this sheds a little light on what value the website has.

This website was used to support a magazine which was distributed throughout the UK once a month, whatever was written for the magazine, this was replicated on the non-commercial website, the reason for the non-commercial website was due to legalities, the content could not be used on the commercial website, hope that makes sense.

The website is not on the same IP address. Depending on the article itself for example lets say it was talking about Colds & Flu, the anchor text for this article was relate to cold & flu.

Yes, the website has had no contribution for over 2 years now, due to the magazine no longer being published, however my thinking is that with the article being original and the length of time they have been online, surely this has some value?

I own a website (non-commercial) which has around 300 pages full of original content, in average about 500 words or so per page. I also own another website (commercial) I was thinking of pointing keywords for all of these pages in the non-commercial website pointing to the commercial website, all the articles are around 2-10 years old, what is the value of doing this sort of link building?

It's not really about converting money with these articles, it's about having good content on our own company blog, which we can use for SEO purposes, email marketing and so on... Initially I was thinking that i could backlink from this website with all these articles into the commercial website, although how much value would this website give the commercial website having hundreds of different backlinks to different product pages throughout the website?

Strange! I have nothing. Anyway, I have this article placed here: example.com/123.html which is ranking really well for a particular keyword, however I want to move the article to another domain website.com/123.html Would it be ok just to do a 301 redirect on this? Would Google index the new URL in the SERP?

The pages in question recently just jumped from 2 to 4, some of my competitors for the keyword in question went from 1 to 2, however still the page authority is higher, this maybe due to the ranking analysis not been updated? does anyone know how often this is updated?

My website is really ranking well, even product pages have a PR of 4.

I ran the keyword analysis tool for the product page in question (which has a PR of 4) with the targeted keyword for the page which is currently ranking 8th (not so good) the keywords analysis tool give me some data back with the page authority being 1 and it also mentions that it has 0 page link root domains, however I know this is not true.

I expected the page authority in seomoz to be higher than 1 due to it having a PR of 4, so how valuable is PR? does it even matter? Another thing I noticed is that the website above my listing have PR of 1 and 2.

I have decided that I am going to move the articles from example.com (non-commercial) to website.com (commercial) however I was having a think, some of the articles on example.com and ranking well for some keywords, maybe getting around 20,000 visits from natural search, would it be possible when moving this article just to do a 301 redirect from the page with the article example.com to the new website?
