Thanks Logan. Now I have two sites set up in the Google Search Console, http and https. The http version has the sitemap and pretty much everything set up, should I just keep using this even though the site will now be https?

Thank you for the links, I have read through each and have decided to change to HTTPS as you advise. I've done everything with the exception of informing Google that the new site is https as opposed to http. How do I make them aware?

I have set up http and https in Webmaster Tools, but how do I tell Google which one is relevant in order to stop any duplicate content issues?

Thanks for this Logan. Surely it makes more sense for me to simple change my website to HTTP and just keep Cart/Checkout, etc. as HTTPS? I see changing to HTTPS as a big risk and a lot of unnecessary work for very little benefit.

From a customer point of view I know that reviews, so long as they can be seen directly on your website (or product) and are from an impartial source (Feefo, McAfee, etc.), can result in an increase in sales (some companies say this can be as drastic as a 40% increase). For instance, when I buy something on Amazon the first thing I do is look at the reviews, the response will determine whether or not I buy that product. That same logic will apply on all ecommerce sites.

From an SEO point of view, I hear companies making claims that reviews increase Google Rank as they make your site appear more trusted, but I cannot vouch for this as I have not tested it. Maybe someone else can chime in on this?

I have my website (HTTP://thespacecollective.com) marked on Google Webmaster Tools as being the primary domain, as opposed to https. But should all of my on page links be http?

For instance, if I click the Home button on my home page it will take the user to http, but if you type in the domain name in the address bar it will take you to https.

Could this be causing me problems for SEO?

Ah that makes more sense, thank you, Jac. It is not ''Product Description'' or anything so generic, but rather the type of product. In the example links below it reads ''About This NASA Patch'', as they are all NASA Patches. They can be changed to the product name quite easily.

Both reasons actually apply, but I cannot see the logic in your answer. Surely Google either does or does not like it - how is Google to know whether or not it is relevant or not?

I know that duplicate H1 and H2 tags are a red flag for Google, but does the same apply for H3, H4 and H5 tags? A lot of my products have the same H5 tags and I'm wondering whether or not that is pulling down my keyword rank.

They all lead to error 522 pages, so I am inclined to think they're damaging. I've disavowed them, I'm hoping my SEO won't drop as a result.

I have a lot of backlinks ending with .xyz, around 20%, and they look very suspicious. Should I disavow these?

What happens when you have thousands? Is it sensible to remove 301's from say, two years ago?

So this is a bit of a strange one.

My latest website was built on a different domain, then transferred over (as opposed to being built on a subdomain). I was told that the domain which my site was built on wasn't indexed by Google, but looking at the Google Search Console I can see that the old domain name is showing up as the most linked to domain name of my current site - meaning it was indexed. The domain (and all of its pages) does have a 301 redirect to the new website home page (as opposed to their individual pages), but could this be causing me a problem with SEO?

Additionally, my website has a sister (UK and US websites), both link to each other on the footer (which appears on every page). Could this be pulling my SEO efforts down if it is a do-follow link?

Thanks for taking the time to write up such a lengthy reply. I completely understand that a trained SEO eye is what is needed, which is why I set about training myself, and in the past 4 months have learnt and conducted more beneficial SEO on my site than in its 7 year history. Moz is a great tool for tracking, after conducting my own SEO changes my ranking keywords doubled, and even with this latest drop, are still higher than they have ever been.

My weakness is link building, as opposed to onsite SEO. This is my next area of focus, but without being able to identify what Google has changed it makes it incredibly difficult to make the correct changes. I suppose I can do nothing else but keep searching for my definitive answers and employing them.

Where is the best place for a site audit in your opinion? I find that every SEO company I approach is ridiculously expensive and do very little work (hence why I do it all myself now). Are there tools for this type of audit?

My rank has dropped quite a lot this past week and I can see from the Moz tools that there is an unconfirmed Google update responsible. Is there any information from Moz on this?

With every new Moz report that comes in, an error code 803 appears. I check each link that comes up as an 803 but they work perfectly. What could be causing this to happen?

Error Code 803: Incomplete HTTP Response Received

Your page did not send a complete response to the Moz Crawler's request. Our crawler is pretty standard, so it's likely that other browsers and crawlers may also encounter this error. If you have this error on your homepage, it prevents the Moz crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site.

I have also noticed that my newest backlinks (around 4-6 weeks old) are not displaying. I would like an answer to this also.

I've heard a few people mention this now. I have seen hosting packages range from £5 to £1000 per month, and I understand that each comes with their own amounts of storage space, bandwidth and all. Now I understand that page speed is important to SEO and the type of hosting will dictate your page speed, but other than this why is hosting important to SEO?

Thanks for answering. I have utilized google tag manager so hopefully that will solve the issue. In relation to your suggestion of hiding the tags using code, I'm pretty sure that is a huge no no for google. As I understand it, hiding text via any means is always a bad idea.
