Hello all,

I'm hoping someone out there can give me a hand with this. I'm trying to modify my .htaccess file so that the site will go from maxcarnagemusic.com to www.maxcarnagemusic.com and also, so viewers will be redirected to www.maxcarnagemusic.com/home when they try to access the site. I've tried a few different things, including adding the 301 redirect plugin for Wordpress, but nothing seems to work.

Can someone out there show/tell me how to create an htaccess file that will execute as much. I apologize in advance, my Apache experience is very, very limited. Thank you all in advance!

I also wanted to ask you if her appearance (or failure to appear) is related to geo-positioning, specifically the 'centroid'. As I recall, years ago, a business's appearance on the Map corresponded to its proximity to whatever Google determined to be the central point of the city. I don't know if this is still a factor in ranking on the Maps and more importantly, showing up as one of those listings that appears in black, when you look at the map without zooming in.

Beyond that, is there any other ways for a business to improve its positioning on both the maps listing and the top map results portion of the search results page for a given search term?

Is there any way for us to improve her position in the listings themselves, so Dr. Lawton appears closer to the number one result and objectively, starts to appear in the 'permanent' black text on the map?

No Donna, I am specifically trying to get them on the map for their local area. For instance, when you look on the Maps tab, you see a number of the competitors (some of them in the same building) but for some reason Dr. Lawton does not show up. Any ideas as to why this may be?

I was much more concerned with where the client(s) (or is fail to) show up on the Maps page. Do you know if there's anything I can do about that?

Dear Esteemed Mozzers,

I am having trouble with a few clients not showing up on the map for Google Maps (Places).

What's interesting is that for one of my clients, a number of her competitors (some of them in the same office building) appear on the maps, however, my client does not. Nevertheless, this client is on G+, uses Yext, Yelp advertising, PPC with Google, etc. and as far as I'm concerned, has signed up for every other 'local' listing service of value.

With that, I'm hoping you guys may be able to point me in the right direction to get my clients back on track and showing up on the Google Maps (Places) listings. Thank you all in advance for reading this, I look forward to your responses!

I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why one of my clients keeps losing their SERP for their targeted keyword terms. We're actively pursuing local citations, making sure their NAP is consistent across the board and refining on-page content to make sure that we're maximizing opportunities.

The only thing I've found is a 4xx error that my Moz 'crawl diagnostics' keep returning back to me, however, when I check to see if there's any problems with Google Webmaster Tools, it doesn't return any errors.

Is this 4xx error the culprit? Are there any suggestions any of you could give me to help me improve the SERP for my targeted keyword terms.

Anyway, any and all insight can help. I'm at my wits end. Thanks for reading and for all of your help!

I have a client that wants to get started with Google Hotel Finder, can anyone offer any resources to help me get them started? I've reviewed the documents Google has published regarding hotel finder, but it doesn't really breakdown any information on how to get indexed, only that they're "pulling from a number of different data sources".

I was talking to a client earlier this week and they were telling me that they were not ranking fora  desired keyword term. When I, however, ran a Google search for the keyword term in question, the client's website was showing a ranking on my end.

We are both located in California. I'm in Southern California and they're in Northern California, but I don't think that should make a significant difference should it? Anyway, I've never run into such a quandary before and am curious to know if any of you out there can help me better understand why we're receiving different search results.

The developer I'm working with on this site is telling me that these issues are a very low priority, but as I'm seeing throughout the threads, his lack of interest in repairing these issues is of some concern to me.

I'm currently working with a developer who is trying to tell me that validation errors and warnings are of little to no importance in a website's SERP.

In the past, whenever I've had a site that was experiencing problems ranking for a keyword terms, this was one of the first places we'd look.

Is this still a relatively important component in getting a site to rank?

So I have a question for the community that hopefully someone can help me with.

Previously, whenever I created/worked on a website, when I would create or edit the content, I would bold the keywords, italicize certain items, add internal/external links and generally mark-up the content. More recently, however, I've noticed that both my client and many of their leading competitors have abandoned this practice.

Now, it appears that all the text appears as plain text, there are rarely bold or italicized items and there does not seem to be as much emphasis on inserting internal/external links. While I understand the ladder to still be an effective/holistic approach to SEO, I'm wondering why the former (the bold, italicized, text variation) has gone by the wayside.

So with that, is adding bold/italicized text still a worthwhile SEO technique and is it something I should continue applying to sites I work on? Please advise.

I recently began working on a site with some peculiar things going on in the source code. Namely, the <title>attribute is beneath the <meta description> and <meta keywords> attributes. </p> <p>I checked a number of the client's competitors and found that none of them have the page attributes in the source data ordered like this. Instead, they have the attributes organized more traditionally (as I've usually seen them) in the following order <title>, <meta description>, <meta keywords>.</p> <p>I'm just wondering  whether or not this may have any effect on their ability to rank for the desired keyword terms. </p> <p> </p></title>

So I had a client that recently decided to change their URL to make it more "searchable"/shorter. Since doing so, I have noticed a significant drop in rankings for a number of the keyword terms we were previously ranking for.

Is there a way to push the links to the new URL or is the only solution to revert back to the old URL?

So I set up my Moz campaigns on the 8th of this month. I can see data for the week, however, I can't see data from the previous week or for the month. So my question has two parts:

a.) Is there a way to view data for the previous week, and

b.) when can I expect to see data for the entire month.

Seeing data for the entire month is absolutely critical for me, since this is what I'm going to use to prepare my monthly client reports.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? PLEASE HELP!!!
