RE: WP Datar site shady linking to my site
Hi Andy,
Thank you so much for your help! So, can I add the snippet above to an existing robots.txt file or do I create a new one? I just don't want to mess up anything that is working for us.

Thanks again...

WP Datar site shady linking to my site
Hello,
I have done some research on this but cannot find a solid answer to my question. After recently reviewing my "not found" errors in webmaster tools, I see that a site called "WP Datar" has linked to a number of our pages that actually do not exist. I am wondering first, if this will harm our site, and second, what is the best way to get those links from their site taken down? I tried emailing, but of course, the email address listed on the site did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Adding social media to SEO service
Hello,
I have been struggling to handle and recommend social media work from my clients to help with their rankings and online presence. Often, it is ignored; however, as everyone knows only so much benefit can be gained through directory listings and stellar on-page optimization. I am wondering if someone could lend a hand on how they take over the social media tweeting/blogging/content etc for a third party so that it is still authentic both to their clients, and also seemingly to Google? Any insight would be helpful! Thanks in advance!!!!

Site redesign..have I done everything?
Hello,
We have a site that was recently put through the redesign process-a couple of weeks ago. It was a tired site that was optimized well, but still struggled because it was so outdated. I went ahead and re-optimized, submitted a new sitemap, and did the fetch. Have I missed a step? Could someone offer insight into what they do when a site is redesigned and the steps taken to make sure that Google crawls and "appreciates"
the new site as soon as possible? Thanks in advance for any and all help! -
Mobile site domain authority
Hello,
I think this may be a coding issue, but hoping someone can help me. I am still having issues with our mobile site ranking, even though we created redirects/canonical to identify similar content between desktop version and mobile. I did notice through MOZ analysis of backlinks that we have no domain authority. If the mobile site is automatically detected dependent on the user, shouldn't we also have the same domain authority? How does that work exactly? How can we build up the domain authority for our mobile site? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

RE: Mobile site content and main site content
Hi Chris,
Thanks. I have seen this checklist in my research. My question is this, do I use the same amount of pages for a mobile version of my site and use the appropriate canonical redirects in order to be found? Right now, I have a small fraction of pages for our mobile site than our desktop site-the only pages with a canonical to alternate redirect are the home pages. I have read all the pages on the developer aspect of Google, used various checklists, but cannot for some reason, find a clear enough answer to go with. Could you or someone else help?
Thanks

RE: Mobile site content and main site content
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your response. I did re-review this page and it looks like we need to expand our mobile site to include as many pages as our desktop site? Is this right? It used to be that mobile sites could have only a few pages and be fine... Any idea why now every mobile page url should correspond to an alternate desktop page url, or does it? That seems to be the only potential problem to me...
Thanks again!!!!

RE: Mobile site content and main site content
Hi Bill,
Thanks for your answer. I am wondering as per the guidelines in Google Developers on mobile sites if we should have a corresponding page on our m.website to our desktop version, and then show the alternate/canonical tags for each?
https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/details
Do I understand that correctly? Right now, we have about 15 pages for our mobile site and 78 pages on our main site...
Thanks for any feedback you can offer!

RE: Mobile site content and main site content
Hi Andy,
I know! This is my preference, and yet I get the feeling from our programming team that it would be too much work.. But thanks for the response and recommendation!!! Knowing little about coding, is there a simplified way to go from two separate sites to one responsive one that I could pass along to my programmer?
Thanks again!

Mobile site content and main site content
Help, pls! I have one main site and a mobile version of that site (m.domain.com). The main site has more pages, more content, different named urls. The main site has consistently done well in Google. The mobile site has not: the mobile site is buried.
I am working on adding more content to the mobile site, but am concerned about duplicate content. Could someone pls tell me the best way to deal with these two versions of our site? I can't use rel=canonical because the urls do not correspond to the same names on the main site, or can I? Does this mean I need to change the url names, offer different content (abridged), etc? I really am at a loss as to how to interpret Google's rules for this. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Any help or tips would GREATLY appreciated!!!!!
Thanks!

RE: Local Business Schema Markup on every page?
Awesome. Thank you! So, just to clarify, in your opinion, it is better to use schema for Google than the data highlighter tool because it is more specific?
Thanks so much again

Local Business Schema Markup on every page?
Hello,
I have two questions..if someone could shed some light on the topic, I would be so very grateful!
1. I am still making my way through how schema is employed, and as I can tell, it is much more specific (and therefore relevant) in its details than using the data highlighter tool. Is this true?
2. Most of my clients' sites have a footer with the local business info included on every page of their site (address and phone). This said, I have been using the structured data markup helper to add local business schema to home page, and then including the footer markup in the footer file so that every page benefits from the local business markup. Is this incorrect to use it for every page? Also, I noticed that by just using the footer markup for the rest of the pages in the site, I am missing data that was included when I manually went through the index page (i.e. image, url, name of business).
Could someone tell me if it is advisable and worth it to manually markup every page for the local business schema or if that should just be used for certain pages such as location, contact us, and/or index?
Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

RE: Mobile site not ranking
Thanks all for your answers. I have read the same about redirecting, but our main site and our mobile site are very different: by both content and layout, as well as url naming structure. If a mobile version of the desktop page is completely different, do I need to do redirects and canonicalization? (i.e. home page on mobile site is completely different from home page on desktop, but both represent the same company). Thanks again for all your help!!!!

RE: Mobile site not ranking
Thanks so much for your responses. Unfortunately, I am not entirely comfortable sharing our urls in the public forum. Would you be willing to receive a private message with the url? Or if there is a better way?
Thanks so much again

Mobile site not ranking
Hello,
Our main site ranks well for all the keyword terms, and yet, our mobile site is buried. It is a "m." configuration, and I am wondering if it is a question of not using the correct programming language to get it there? Or if the redirects to the main site should relate differently? I have tried to read up on the topic of mobile site SEO and cannot find (or understand) the answer? Could someone please help?
Thanks so much in advance!

RE: No-follow for article directory?
Hi Gary-thanks for your response. Basically, we offer as a part of my company's services a medical article directory that pulls from our server, but is used for all of our clients' sites. So I think what I am asking is should I noindex the articles, even though it is valuable content or do I have to rewrite the content for each client? I don't understand your last paragraph. Could you please explain? Thanks again for your insight and help!!!!
