DMOZ Directory Impact on Rankings
Not so much anymore as others have said...plus, we track heavily our inbound traffic and honestly, it's been YEARS since I ever noticed a DMOZ referral for any of our clients... Might have been a real prize...but not so much anymore, eh!

High qualitty images and mobile
Thanks for the shout out, Ryan! Although, I think Smashing Magazine has already answered this question the best: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/07/22/responsive-web-design-should-not-be-your-only-mobile-strategy/ Basically, what you want to do is load high quality images for desktop, but remove those images or serve lower quality images for mobile. You can either do this by loading the images you need with JavaScript rather than CSS, so matchMedia can change the images based on device type, or you can set up your server to deliver differently sized images based on device type. Hope this helps!

Facebook plugin comments and SEO
Ryan is correct, if you cannot see the text in the source code of a page, then the robots cannot see them either. There are not many widgets or plugins out there that are actually fully integrated.

Promoting several posts on FB increases the reach for all posts
That is interesting! At Moz, we haven't attributed or correlated any organic lifts in our Facebook views when we turn off promotion. While Facebook maintains that they don't bias views for people who pay for ads, I've seen others make similar comments. However, I haven't seen any good studies on this.

Similar Several Articles or One Article
I would write one authoritative article that is the best on the web for this topic. It would have lots of high quality photos and be clearly divided into subheadings so that a person scanning can find what he is looking for. An article that immediately impresses people with images, breadth and length has a better chance of being shared than a large number of articles that cover only snippets of the topic. Long articles also pull in nice amounts of longtail traffic because they have a huge diversity of words on a page.
