Refund From MOZ for Cancelled Account-How To Get Refund, Phone Number for MOZ Corporate Office?
Hi Alan! Thanks so much for reaching out here! I'm so sorry you've been having trouble getting ahold of us. I believe I just responded to an email from you sent earlier today. If you do not receive that, please let me know. Regarding your question about Moz Local- this is a separate subscription and is not impacted by cancelling Moz Pro. Moz Pro and Moz Local subscriptions need to be cancelled individually so cancelling your Moz Pro subscription will not also cancel Moz Local. Please do let me know if you do not receive our email- looking forward to hearing from you.

Links Not Detected by MOZ, AHREFS, GSC-ARE THESE QUALITY LINKS?
Hi there I am guessing you are the owner of Metro Manhattan judging by the pattern of the web-pages, in terms of where they are linking to! I think we may have chatted before actually (correct me if I am wrong) https://patch.com/new-york/bayside/bayside-queens-priciest-area-retail-office-space-study This post is indexable on Google. It has really good authority (90/100 domain rating on Ahrefs) and would be a great link, but the link has been no-followed. It doesn't influence Google's rankings at all. Your link shares the URL with other links which also point to other external sources SEO rating: 0/10, as it's no-followed https://qns.com/story/2019/12/04/these-commercial-streets-in-queens-were-among-the-most-expensive-in-2019/ This post is indexable on Google. Solid domain rating on Ahrefs (73/100). You don't share the post with too many other link destinations. The link is followed, so it should count for Google SEO rating: 7.5/10 https://patch.com/new-york/brooklyn/flatbush-ave-priciest-retail-spot-outside-manhattan-study You only posted five links, you'd think your supplier would manage to get five links on different domains, the more links you have from one domain (in a short space of time) the less they matter. Regardless, this link won't count for SEO at all as it's no-followed SEO rating: 0/10, as it's no-followed http://thejewishvoice.com/2019/12/07/nycs-most-expensive-commercial-streets-neighborhoods-in-2019-would-surprise-you/ An average domain rating on Ahrefs of 53, not bad at all. Sadly, your link supplier (not the site owner) 'lied' to you when they said this was one of your backlinks. There are no links from this page to your page. If there's no link at all, how good could the link be? SEO rating: -5/10, as they (your link suppliers, not the owners of Thejewishvoice.com) fibbed to you. Naughty naughty! Evidence screenshot of failing to find link: https://d.pr/i/WfUUgV.png https://atalyst.com/investment-banking-interview-metro-manhattan/ The Ahrefs domain rating for "atalyst.com" is only 16/100, that's not something where you could consider it a 'quality' link in my opinion. The link to Metro Manhattan on this URL is followed, so it does count towards rankings - but load the page and look at it! It's very thin content, I'd go so far as to say it's 'not content' at all. It's an image and a strapline and a link. If you think Google cares about this, you are wrong SEO rating: 2/10, might help a little, but barely at all So now, I have looked at each link and graded it out of 10. The scores were 0, 7.5, 0, -5 and 2. Each link could have scored 10/10, which means our total max possible score is 50 (10 x 5 links) When we add the numbers up, we get 4.5/50, or a 9% rating For something to be considered 'quality', I think it should have to be "50% decent or higher". 9% isn't good enough (IMO)

Possible to Migrate Website Design to Different Theme?
Hi Pat: Thanks for your answer/response! Our URL is www.metro-manhattan.com To answer your questions: 1. When we moved the site to a new theme/database the URL structure did not change. However, about a year before we migrated to a new domain and and went HTTP to HTTPS (secure) so there are redirects. 301 redirects were used. 2. All the on page optimization moved when we changed themes. 3. Yes, there are some unnecessary URLs, but they are managed by robot.txt. 4. Gzip compression/caching/cdn has been implemented to speed up site. My SEO provider is constantly adjusting but the site is not particularly fast. If we were to custom develop the same functionality without purchasing a theme, would the performance (Google Page Speed, GT Metrix) be much better? If we are satisfied with the structure, design and functionality of our site, is custom coding a costly venture? Thanks, Alan

Reducing Negative Impact of Webpage Login Form
It's horrible that you have been forced to adopt this as it's basically forced suicide of the website You're likely up against large aggregator sites who have more commercial properties (inside of and outside of New York) on their books than you do. Places where users can go and just process one request, to see 20-30% of all available online results. These sites have a massive USP as for most of us who are lazy, they are one-stop shops we learn to trust To assail and overcome these giants, even around the more-niche fringes, you need solid value-propositions and value-add for your site. Why go to you, instead of an easier, larger supplier? Maybe you have some reasons: Better prices Better customer service Easier to use website once you register BUT - being forced to register is a massive value-subtraction measure. It subtracts HUGE amounts of bonus points from your value-proposition, which is ultimately what you ride on to rank well Not only are you having bounce rate issues, your search traffic may soon tumble into the dirt. Right now, your organic search (SEO) performance seems pretty solid, looking at the charts on Ahrefs (which I still think, are superior to the SEMRush ones by a long shot). This single change, could jeopardize all of that By the way, even if I change my use agent to Googlebot, the form still comes up - so they will definitely be aware very soon (if not already) of this user obstruction. It's such a shame because it looks as if you guys started lifting in May 2018, and have been on the up-and-up ever since. To have such a change forced is literal insanity Maybe there are some small CRO things you can do to get 3-15% more conversions or leads. But if your SEO traffic plummets 60% you will just be left thinking "wow, that was a terrible, terrible deal" You've already given people the easy options by allowing them to log-in with Google or FaceBook. But people only really like to do that for big brands they can trust, otherwise they feel they are somehow connecting their personal accounts with a site they are not 'quite sure' that they trust yet Sorry to say but I think this was a bit of a Doomsday maneuver Your only real option is to incentivise account creation with deals and discounts or something like that. People are pretty astute these days, they will want something back for their trouble In reality it would be better to wait until users were about to convert (going through whatever conversion funnel you have set up) and then at the very end, when you already have all of their info (which they need to give you to properly contact you) - set up an auto-filled form (based on the data they have already input) and ask if they want to create an account in a simple, easy 1-click style That would have (probably) increased your uptake in account creations. But whomever was making the decisions, got too greedy and got forceful. It won't work and it may have severe repercussions

Best to Include Phone Number as CTA Button in Mobile Version of B+B Web Site?
Hello Alan, The figure speaks for itself 35% of mobile traffic is more than worth the effort to get a button added to the mobile view of the site. There isn't a protocol per se, just some very simple code, a variation of an anchor tag - https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/native-hardware/click-to-call/ - your developer will be able to create a button easily enough. In addition, they will need to add a CSS @media rule - https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_mediaquery.asp

Improve Site Performance by Removing/Replacing Widgets & Plugins?
There are numerous aspects that go into page speed. When you run an analysis, whether in Pingdom, GTMetrix, or Google Page Speed, you will get insights about what is slowing down your site. These are the aspects you want to focus on. The best I find is GTMetrix. It gives you a step by step list of everything slowing down your site. Then, you can research each point and find ways to improve them. That said, here are a few areas to check: 1. Are you running the highest version of Wordpress and PHPadmin. You want at least 7.0 or higher for PHP admin, and you want to be using Wordpress 5.0. 2. Your server speed and the quality of your host will play a bigger role than anything else in the speed of your site. Check with your hosting company if your server can handle your site. With hosting, quality is a lot more important than price. You can get cheap, shared hosting from an unreliable supplier, but you will get the site speed that goes with it. You want a server that's located in the country where most of your traffic will come from, and you never want it to be "just good enough". It's like towing with a truck. If you need to tow 5,000 pounds, you'll want a truck that can tow at least 7,500 pounds with ease. Not sure if that makes sense, but the point is, make sure your server is capable of towing a lot more than your current site. If you're not sure which hosts are best, do some online research. I won't name names here, but there are 3 or 4 hosting companies that are constantly head and shoulders above the rest. 3. Your images also play a huge role in your site speed. Make sure they are optimized. Again, Page Speed and GTMetrix will let you know how big of a role your images are playing in your slow site. 4. Research Leverage Browser Caching. 5. Research "slow wordpress site". There is a guide available that helps you go step by step to improve speed. Site speed is a range of factors. There can be hundreds of factors hurting your site but the four above are the major ones. Don't worry too much about your theme. It plays a role, but no theme can be fast if the host is slow, the images are too big, you don't enable Leverage Browser Caching and your Wordpress and PHP versions aren't up to date. As for your plugins, there is a plugin that checks which of your plugins are slowing down your site the most called P3, but I wouldn't recommend it. It caused a few problems on our site when we ran it. That said, the rule of thumb with plugins is delete anything you don't use, don't use two plugins that do the same thing, and make sure you use reliable plugins that have good reviews and are updated regularly.

Incomplete Redirect for Domain Migration?
Alan, Spot checking, I looked at a few of your redirected old domain pages which are still showing up in the index. Here are my thoughts: For the ones which are redirected properly, you might be experiencing a ranking dip because the old domain name contained keywords better matching search terms. for example, if a search contains "office" or "space", it could be that your old domain was perceived by Google as a stronger match. Although Google doesn't place as much weight on exact or partial match domain names as was once the case, it is still a ranking factor, from my recent experience. URLs such as http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/neighborhoods seem to be properly redirected. From what I can tell, the redirects look fine. Other URLs such as http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com/Chelsea are being redirected to a non-existent page, with a 404 error. Probably because you are using a pattern redirect which is preserving the requested file path. For any of these which previously had rank equity, I would put some effort into redirecting to some relevant existing page. I do see that your old URLs here http, and the new ones were https. The redirects are working fine, but you might want to check that when you did the change of address, it was on the http version of the old property (to the new domain). Even though we're not supposed to use change of address to go from http to https migrations, it is still necessary to change the address from the specific version of the old property. So, if you previously had both http and https versions of your old property, you want to make sure you've done the change of address tool for the http one.

Ability to Transition Completed Wordpress Website to New Coder/Developer
Hi Alan, Kinsta is the host and company that offers a container which is more powerful than a VPS in most cases. You get amazing support for things that you are asking questions about here. They will set up to github for you they will do most of the things that I think you want to have a really authoritative opinion on. Kinsta will make code change for you ServeBolt will tell your developer what to do ServeBolt offers Bare metal hosting on their custom COLO NVMe drives that are on a VPS are extremely customize and much faster than and your current host is far superior support. I’m sorry to hear that you have paid in advance you may want to ask if you can get out of that if you cannot You can hire a company like Performance Foundry to do a lot of the work correctly. It sounds like your server is loaded with plug-ins and is not being run correctly by you’re Developer to be honest you may want to contact codeable and have a simple code audit done for $400. **https://performancefoundry.com/ is great ** https://codeable.io/ has hundreds of great Your question about Plugins After briefly looking at your site I can tell you the code was not done very well but I would like to login before saying that See below: https://codeable.io/how-many-wordpress-plugins-too-many/ https://wp-rocket.me/blog/wordpress-plugins-many/ https://torquemag.io/2018/02/wordpress-plugins-many-many/ How Many Plugins is Too Many? There’s not a number of plugins that’s set in stone for all users. It depends heavily on the kind of web host you use, though. For shared or budget cloud hosting, stick between 0 and 5 plugins. If you use cloud hosting, VPS hosting, or a dedicated server, you can run anywhere from 5 and 20 plugins on your site without many issues. Dan Norris, co-founder of WP Curve, recommends to never exceed 20 From what I understand of your site and I have to be honest I wish I could log into it and give you more insight. It does not look like it was built very well. It definitely is not being maintained very well by your daughter no one should have 50 plug-in is never a need for that even on site that has 4000 jobsite I have never seen anything over 25 ever. The fact that your developer is not removing the plugins is a really bad sign Hope this helps, Tom

Frequent Blog Content-Effective in Improving Ranking?
Hi Egol: Thanks so much for your response!! In 2018 we focused on UX, now the plan for 2019 is to improve content and build back links. After reading your answer, I am not sure about our SEO's plan for 6 blog posts per month. The topics would highly researched and pertinent for visitors, answering potential real estate questions. From what you are saying we should focus more on . developing and improving internal content. Assuming the quality of the content is excellent, how many blog posts per month are optimal? Thanks, Alan

Removing Toxic Back Links Targeting Obscure URL or Image
Hi Kingsplan The problem here is that you would still have them pointing at your domain. Even if they 404'd, the links would still be hitting your site. I would: 1. Ascertain if they are actually toxic - look at SEMrush or similar (anything over 65 toxicity is worth removing) - we have had a lot from 'the globe' recently. I have disavowed them for some sites but honestly, they don't appear to have done any harm to others. 2. Email the 4 or 5 domains and ask them to remove the links. 3. If you don't get a response after 2 weeks or so simply add those domains to the disavow file. Regards Nigel

Will Removing or Disavowing Toxic Links Improve MOZ Domain Authority?
Hi Lauren: Do on page factors influence Domain Authority as much as building back links? This is a really key question! I need to decide whether to invest resources in building back links or improving on site SEO. How about internal links? How much do they contribute to domain authority? At the moment my site lacks internal links, would adding them in a relevant manner improve domain authority? While I greatly appreciate your last response it is somewhat ambiguous. Thanks, Alan

Rebranded Website Uses a Forward Slash /at End of URS-Is This Considered a Redirect?
301 redirects will almost assuredly be utilised to keep this maneuver SEO-friendly. but wait! 301 redirects fail to translate 'most' of the SEO authority from one page to another, in two key situations. If the content is too dissimilar on the destination URL, 301s can fail to port authority across For you, this won't be a big issue as (from the sounds of it) the pages will be almost identical, byte for byte. The new pages may be very, very slightly larger due to having source code that contains more instances of the character "/" but that's not something which would phase Google at all Another situation where 301s can fail to move all the SEO authority across is when redirect chains occur. But you're just 301-ing "non trailing /" URLs to "trailing /" URLs, so it shouldn't be a problem right? Hmmm there are ways you could come unstuck here Let's imagine we have a hypothetical retail site called "buymyproducts.com" Let's imagine that a few years ago, the site used to be on HTTP (insecure) and has moved over to HTTPS (encrypted) All pages were influenced by a HTTPS-injecting redirect, let's create and example: http://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product was 301 redirected to https://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product (with HTTPS) That redirect rule now sits within the web.config or .htaccess file and waits for insecure requests, redirecting as appropriate Now we want a new redirect rule, and it will affect the page like this: https://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product will be 301 redirected to https://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product/ (with a trailing slash) That seems fine, but when the oldest architecture is queried, you'll end up with redirect chaining like this: A) http://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product will be redirected to B) https://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product (with HTTPS) which will then be redirected to C) https://buymyproducts.com/product-category/product/ (with HTTPS and a trailing slash) ... so as you can see, your redirects will begin to chain unless you foresee that problem up-front and write 'more complex' redirect rules that just connect A to C whilst entirely skipping B. If the site existed on the oldest architecture (no trailing slash, insecure / HTTP) for the longest time (say 7 out of 10 years) then it's likely that many of the best links will still be hitting the very oldest architecture in terms of link destinations. Those backlinks won't translate into SEO authority for your site (very well) if your redirects begin to chain-up To stop yourself from losing large chunks of legacy-authority, you'd have to do the redirects really well and ensure that your developer's rules do not ever begin to chain. If they are confident that they can avoid this chaining by writing much more complex redirect rules then go for it. If not, hold off
