If you download the CSV of the report, there is a column that will list the referring URL for the 404.

RE: How do i get the crawler going again?
It's easiest for the Moz team to respond to individual questions like this via an email to help@seomoz.org or sending in a ticket through the help hub at seomoz.org/help.

RE: Googleoff/on tags
I'm looking at the URL and going off of memory -- I think that's just for the search appliance and not for Google in general. You might want to look further at the documentation, but I think that's just for their search appliance and not the web as a whole.

RE: Why is SEOmoz link tagged with a (nofollow) for my site? I have tried to write a youmoz post a couple of times. But, I am just not an expert, that is why I am on SEOmoz.
YouMoz posts also use NoFollow when you submit them, but I believe the system removes the nofollow if they are published. Keep in mind that the main purpose of YouMoz is not to get a followed link to your site, and we often let authors know that non-relevant links in posts need to be removed.

RE: 406 errors
I believe the cause is on our end. We made Roger more picky about this type of thing, but are telling him to loosen up today and he should stop bugging you about it as much on the next crawl.

RE: My Mozbar SERP overlay stopped working when I updated to Firefox 20.0!
We had an issue with the toolbars. We updated them last night. The chrome one should be in the store now, and Firefox within a couple of days (they're a little slower on approving). So sorry about the trouble!

RE: 406 Error Code?
We made some tweaks to Roger, and he got a bit more sensitive and started displaying that error when he shouldn't have. We released another update today, and your next crawl should look OK again.

RE: 4XX (Client Error)
We do know about the 406 errors, and we uploaded a fix for that on Tuesday. Your next crawl should not show these errors again.

RE: How do YOU use site explorer?
One way I use it is for ideas of types of links I might be able to get for my husband's business (selling model RC warships). There are only a couple of competitors for the fiberglass ship hulls in the US, so I look at their backlink profile. Just this evening I was browsing through, and saw that my competitor had a link from a crew website for people who had served on a certain ship, for anyone interested in building a model of that ship.
We don't carry the same hull so we couldn't get a link on that page, but we do have about 35 hulls, so there are opportunities for several links from other sites.

RE: Server crashed - What should I do regarding Google SERP´s?
It may be too late for this, but this is a useful post about what to do if you know in advance you need to take your server down. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-handle-downtime-during-site-maintenance

RE: Oh my gosh a gender change
Hi Gina,
We know it's not the best term, and we're actually going to have some updates with new terminology coming soon. Hang in there, you'll be back to your old self soon!

RE: Cloaking? Best Practices Crawling Content Behind Login Box
I'm going to respond from a human point of view and not a technical point of view.
I've been searching for houses recently on Craigslist. There are a couple of real estate agents who post ads on CL with a link to their site. When you click the link, you get a lightbox requiring that you fill out the lead form to be able to see the details of the house. I do one of two things:
-
I open up IE in private browsing mode and paste in the URL. The private browsing mode has something that prevents this script from running and I can see the house details just fine.
-
If the house address is not provided in the CL ad, I'll copy the image URL of one of the CL photos and put that into a Google reverse image search. I'll find a different website that has posted the same house and use their site that doesn't require me to register. (I realize this may not happen in your scenario above).
I agree what the other people say about not wanting provide one thing to Google and another to users, and wanted to add that people will try to find ways around the registration. I don't have a solution for you, sadly.

RE: How to select a quality site with SEOmoz root domain ranks for guest blogging?
If my mother landed on the site from Google, would she call me and complain about the crap that Google's indexing and why doesn't she get better results. That's one measure.
Another would be is this site one you'd feel comfortable putting up on the projector in a meeting and saying that you got a link from them. -
RE: Broken links shall i put them in my htaccess file to generate juice
Stephanie Change of Distiled wrote a good post about dealing with expired content and lots of 404 pages, and what you should do with those pages. It's at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-should-you-handle-expired-content. She talks about where you might want to redirect these pages to, how it should look to the user, etc.

RE: Seomoz not able to crawl backlinks
Hi Bhavin,
OSE is a great tool, but it is not able to crawl the entire web. We do miss backlinks, and it can take a couple of months to show new links as well. We've been updating the index every couple of weeks, so do keep checking back to look for more links -- though it's the search engines seeing the links that's the important part, and thankfully they have many more computers to crawl the web than we do!

RE: Google.com
Given your title, are you only slipping in google.com for your search? How is Bing doing? If overall search from all engines have declined, then you'd want to check that you hadn't blocked something in robots, for example.
If you're not able to give out many details in a public Q&A, consider using your private Q&A question for the month. Those questions are only viewable to you and SEOmoz staff/associates, and we are all under NDAs to not share your URL or any other information about the question.

Hi! We know this is an issue right now and are working on it. The help desk will chime in when we've got an update. Thanks!

RE: Would having the same paragraph on every product page be bad?
Keep in mind that with an image, you're taking away from some of the accessibility of the text for anyone with a visual impairment. I don't know if the OP's target market is racing wheelchairs for people with only lower leg impairment who are in their 20s, or if the target market might be one that you should be concerned about having the site be more accessible by a screen reader.
