We are not trying to protect the design. We are trying to make the page more clear and trying to push the reviews to top. Basically trying to make it more informative and clear product page.

Other option is show the description on the first tab which will be open in default. If we do that reviews will be hidden under second tab. If we don't use tabs the page will be way too long.

I saw a a similar website doing this and theirs opens in a pop up. I don't want to do that and I would rather slide open.

Would this be advisable as far as google and on page SEO?

What will be the pros and cons?

We are redesiging our ecommerce site and product page is bothering us. We want to tidy up. We want to hide some of the description with jquery script.

Visitor will be able to view first 30 words and there will be a "read more" text link just after that content. If they want to read more (which we think most will do) they will have to click the text link and rest of the content will slide open in the same page.

The whole content is visible from source code.

Would this be ok as far as Google and SEO concerned?

We are getting our website redesigned and would like to know whether to increase the links on our site wide navigation or not.

At the moment we have around 30 links from the navigation. We want to use exploding navigation menu and increase the links to our most important categories. Say if we increase to 60-70 would that be alright. (what will be the highest we can go for)

At the moment categories that get links from navigation are ranking pretty good. If we increase would we loose those rankings.

What will be the pros and cons of increasing navigation links?

Second question we are also adding fooer links to top 10 categories in the footer. Would this be ok as far as seo and google concerned.

I would like to know whether it's ok to sell same products from 2-3 websites. Design and URL structure will be different but same e-commerce platform. Would google penalise or drop the rankings, etc.

How google deall with this sort of thing?

One of my friend attended seomoz conference in london yesterday and he swears there was a talk that google pushes down exact keyword match domains which build backlinks with domain name as anchor text.

What are the pros and cons having exact match domain and how can you create a brand name and build backlinks?

Say we have a domain personalizedbirthdaygifts.com

We are quite stuck with what anchor text we need to use and how do we vary it?

I've heard that we have to stay away from using commercial keywords as anchor text heavily. We have to also use our brand name. And here we get stuck as we don't have a brand name. In this case Our brand name should be personalized birthday gifts but this is also commercial keyword.

I have seen before similar websites droped from ranking because they have commercial keywords in their domain and most of their backlink anchor texts are commercial.

If I had a website called twentyfive.com selling birthday gifts it would be a lot easier. But when you have a website personalizedbirthdaygifts.com and trying to rank for personalized birthday gifts and birthday gifts it's tough. OR isn't it?

I checked a few compettitors and it seems like they are getting links form a blog netwrok. They are pretty good on serch results for competitive keywords as well. what would you say about that? It seems to me they are paid links.

What is the best procedure for link building? Does blogposts help?
