Joe, agree, that's a good model to live by, but you are right to be a bit nervous. Google behaves oddly about edits, and I was less than thrilled to read this tweet from the Local SEO track at the recent PubCon in New Orleans: Greg Gifford @__GregGifford__ from Google's point of view, when you move locations, you're starting a new business @__marybowling__ #pubcon 8:51 AM - 24 Apr 2013 On the one hand, I can 'get' Google's mentality behind this. Joe's Cafe on 1st Street may have had lousy coffee and lousy service, but the new Joe's Cafe on Center Street may have turned over a new leaf and have great drinks and staff, meaning that the business has been re-born. I think that is Google's rationale. But, honestly, for most businesses, a move of address does not  represent some major changes in products, policies or quality. It's just the same business in a new building. I wish Google would be a bit more flexible and understanding about this, but right now, moves can be a big headache. Good luck!

_Valid question as it seems. But there is no straight forward answer. If you ask any Google representative about this, he/she would suggest you flag the website. However, I have personally tried this but what it appeared to me that it never worked. It is a vicious circle. Google releases algo change > sites get panelized   > webmasters find loophole > spam sites start gaining on ranking. _

I think by most SEO standards, people would suggest diversifying your keywords as much as possible. However, I have multiple sites that in order to stay targeted, I have to use the same high traffic keyword, hundreds of time throughout the site. I've had very positive results when dropping in the keyword, in every meta title (including product pages) and adding any additional keywords in the long tail. (the majority, if not all page 1) I thinks as long as you mix things up for the rest of title it shouldn't be an issue.

I think you are over emphasizing the keyword – “San Diego Newborn Photographer”. Titles of almost all the individual blog posts start with one or two general words describing the photograph and then followed by the key phrase – “San Diego Newborn Photographer”. Would be great if you can add some varieties here. And add alt tags against the images [do not focus on keywords solely here; rather you should add descriptive alt tags here]. And create an image sitemap if you do not have one.

Hi Joe, Yes, that's somewhat unusual. I'd be most suspicious of possible penalties and proximity, but it could be something else. Feel free to return with further details after you've investigated this further. I'm curious about your remark that it's the 'newest' of the listings. You don't mean you've got more than one listing for the same business, do you? That, of course, would be a big problem.

You may have been hit by the Oct 5 Penguin update: http://www.seomoz.org/google-algorithm-change Is it possible that you were hit by the 9/27 exact match domain update, but didn't notice the drop until 10/7? It is also possible that the drop in rankings was not linked to a specific Google update.

I feel your pain! Although, sometimes cleaning up an outdated site can be the most rewarding because there is so much upward potential. Good luck!
