Well it's all about passing the threshold of your link building profile which you don't want to do, if you have an already well established site, moderate forum links won't get you penalized. Avoid sig links like the plaque. Most blog comments are nofollow, if you find a dofollow blog and it posts without moderation it's only a matter of time before spammers start hammering the comments on that page so you'll eventually wind up in a bad neighborhood.

Also if you post in a forum you can always log in and edit your post or delete your account, once a blog comment goes up it can be more difficult to get removed.

You can append additional content to the bottom of the page on the more important site, or break up the article by adding content and or ads between the paragraphs (which will probably result in article fragmentation) but if you're not a news source it's not a big deal.

I would 301 the entire site or let them both live as independently as possible. It depends on your branding strategy, maintaining two sites code, duplicate content on sites, traffic coming to each site, a bunch of factors.

301ing all the internal pages could make the site look like it was hijacked to Google, what is the reason for having only the homepage live?

Sure, that is a solution, but then rankings for the additional dupe sites went away because you basically suggested to Google "this URL on this site should not rank, because it is a copy of this article on this site, so give that site credit not me"

I believe that Jon has not been hit yet and wants both sites to rank, but is unable to change the content on either site to be unique. Any additional code you can insert in between the articles to create less similarity between both pages should help lessen the chance of getting hit but not a guarantee.

If the content is not getting lost and being added as additional content to your category and sub category pages while also reducing duplicate content that is great. If the change will cause content to be lost or not seen then that would be a concern. Think quality not quantity. Just make sure you 301 the pages so any PR is properly passed.

Look at your traffic to the pages you are thinking about eliminating though first. Sometimes Google gives some sites 2 or 3 results on the first page (host crowding) so if this is happening to your site, then losing those pages could result in less traffic.

Nooooo. Recommend you do not do this just for a slight name change. You are basically starting all over with a new untrusted domain. Domains should only be changed if absolutely necessary, especially with large sites. Your site is PR5 and probably rocking.

If the site ranks, is not penalized and you rely on the traffic for the business to thrive then leave it alone. Also daisy chaining 301 redirects causes PR loss, just thought I would mention that because you said you already have a lot of redirects in place.

If you are doing this for SEO (because "studio" is searched more than "creative") then work that keyword into the copy of your  pages instead and don't mess with the domain name. Once you choose a domain name you should be married to it.

I don't see the hash tag (#) in your example, but anything in the URL from the hash tag and after is ignored. There are no negative implications other than maybe you would be better in breaking up that one page into a few individually targeted pages for better SEO.

you can use the brand name, not needed that many times for SEO since that's your domain names. I don't feel the homepage is really stuffed.

Regarding your homepage, let the bounce rate tell the story. Everyone has an opinion, use AB testing and path analysis to get the bounce rate as low as possible.

All your category pages appear to be PR0. Is this a new site, looks like it was registered since 06 but maybe was parked all that time and not a site? New sites take time, PR and incoming links are important for rankings.

Lose the keyword tags on the pages, useless and slightly stuffed, can only hurt won't help.

for some reason (probably taking a short cut on installing the CMS that they built out to create these pages) someone in engineering decided they would do it this way. I would ask around the engineering dept and find out who set this up and maybe you can get some more insight into how it functions to get a better idea of the SEO implications.

Category pages are PR0. They are higher competition and therefore harder to rank. If the site is new it might take some time to build up juice and trust.

Please share your site for more analysis. Use a spider simulator to see how robots read your pages (one tool is here: http://www.webconfs.com/search-engine-spider-simulator.php/) , it's possible you may need to configure your CSS to make sure your article text is seen before your ad text.

see how Google already sees and has your site indexed and set it as that.

make sure your alternate version is 301 redirecting to the proper version.

make sure the absolute links on your site are the correct association (if non www then absolutes should be non www)

when people or sites link to you try to make sure they are linking without www if you are non www and vice versa

don't just abandon the old/existing site without looking into the reasons you got penalized or you'll just create a new site with no PR and no Google trust that will be doomed to suffer the same fate.

Keep them. The more content the better plus the pages probably accrued PR as long as it's accurate info and not outdated. If these pages have PR you might want to consider streamlining the links on these pages to pass PR to the homepage or main landing pages.

if it's the entire site you could request root domain removal in WMT and they will deindex the entire site

then it's simple to get the site indexed again, submit URL to google, link from prominent places, resubmit new sitemap to google etc. This ensures the old adult junk will go away instantly and the new stuff will appear.

what are your rankings like, if they are good and you are afraid of losing them then just be a little more patient, don't request the site to be deindexed and work on getting the crawlers coming back.

check your robots.txt to make sure they didn't hijack that file! they could be blocking Google from crawling in robots.txt

Should be only one H1 and it should appear in the top as the title. You can style it however you want but my thinking is if you style it to look like text and hide it in content somewhere Google may eventually take issue with playing that kind of schtick.

how many characters is your domain name. the longer the worse, is this an established site, if not consider getting a shorter domain that's easier for people to type in.

without knowing your product and categories complexity it's hard to give advice on what your structure should be. but exceeding 70 characters is no big deal.

Something has got to be unintentionally blocking Bing.

Post your site if you're comfortable with it and we'll take a look. Don't take the dev teams word for it take a look at your robots.txt first. If you're blocking Bing you also could be blocking Google to so I would hop on this right away.
