it's certainly acceptable for them to be the same. That said, the Title tag is used as your search display in the SERPS and "los angeles blue widgets" may not attract click throughs and that will impact your ratings. Are you updating your domain name? Your question is a little vague and unless I can understand better the environment, I will agree to Keri to 301 redirect your poorer performing URL to your better performing URL.
Correct, the site is not banned but it IS penalized. Banned means completely removed from Google's index...game over. Penalized means indexed but rankings have been suppressed.
As you can see your name is not ranking when searching Google, this is a trademark suppression and almost always means the entire site has been penalized.
The homepage is only PR1 - I wouldn't worry about anything, just mass 301 the old domain to the new TLD and you're fine.
Changing domains on well established sites is more risky but my guess is that this site is not ranking well yet anyway since some internal pages don't even have established content.

Anyway, having flimsy content is not something that would get you a trademark suppression so my guess is that these is still something with your incoming links that Google doesn't like. Were you ranking well before? Sucks, this is your time of the year I could have helped you possibly recover if you reached out a few months ago.
definitely good - and legitimate. As Marie stated mix up the anchor texts, also:
a) don't let them link to you sitewide
b) a link from their homepage would be the strongest.
c) make sure the suppliers site is clean and they're not selling links or an overly optimizes spammy or penalized site
d) links should be dofollow and SEO friendly
it's very difficult to assess without the URL. The site that you changed the anchor text on, was that link a sitewide link? Changing a few links shouldn't cause the drop, it's probably over optimization on the page/site for that keyword term. It's the homepage that dropped to page 6 right? Is the homepage ranking OK for your other terms still?
We have seen several competitors get trashed in the rankings. Spammy links does not guarantee that a site will be penalized. They may enough good quality links to counteract their spam links and there are probably several other factors taken into consideration in the Google spam penalty algorithm.
the tiny changes he made probably didn't cause the drop, something else most likely did like on page factors. he's just assuming that these changes did it because they were the last things he did for this term. getting demoted to the bottom of page 6 is definitely indicative of a penalty for that search term.
It is true that keyword density for example is just one of 200 or so factors helping determining ranking, but if you create a page with 50% keyword density for a term, that is enough to get that page suppressed in ranking for that term.

it's possible, also what other changes did he do 1 week, 2 weeks, a month ago. Also, maybe something changed in Googles algorithm.
without looking at the site and page it's all just speculation
The biggest compliance issue with most large ecommerce sites is product pages creating tons of duplicate and often empty pages with little or no content and often just product info repeated on multiple pages. Rel next, canonical, noindex metas, and adding content are all issues needing to be configured properly. In addition, quite often duplicate and untargeted title and meta tags is also a big issue with very large sites with autogenerated pages.
there's no problem with having hundreds of 301's.
having /theme-parks/ twice in the url is slightly spammy, but probably better than your second example where you don't have "theme parks" even once in the url. I would make it /theme-park-reviews/ unless your domain name already have "theme parks" in it.
If you're having great rankings with the current pages you may want to just leave the legacy pages and work on new structure for posts going forward, but if it's not brining you a ton of traffic that your business depends on, then I would 301 them to the new structure, should be fine and you could always revert if you see negative effects.
If the link is on a clean page that is not spammed and has no chance of being spammed in the future, and also has a low amount of links on the page (both internal and external) than a PR6 link is a great link to get relevant or not. It is still passing the same PR. But don't confuse the homepage being PR6 with the page you are getting a link from as being a PR6 link. The PR has to be on the page, not the domain.
please explain more, not enough info here, it's a mobile site you are launching for a client? it will get indexed if you allow it to get indexed. will it effect your rankings or your clients main site rankings? need more info for an answer
it depends on the PR of the site, if site A is a aged well established site with good PR that you want to be passed to site B then keep the 301s.
If site B is a brand new site, understand that cancelling the 301 will negatively affect site B and if site A pages are still indexed and getting a lot of traffic you will lose that traffic.
If you are creating a new site A, and the existing site A has good PR then your new site A will hit the ground running since it's aged, just 301 the pages internally to the new url structure so you don't 404 internal pages with PR.
Always look at your backlinks and try to remove bad ones. You sites link profile doesn't look too bad though at a quick glance.
301 the pages that are 302'ing to their most relevant pages.
I would go for longer tail keywords targeted on specific types of towels and robes IE "terry cloth towels"
It sounds like he has backlinks on sites that are not indexed. Why are these sites not indexed? There could be a few reasons
a) brand new site, in that case they won't be passing PR once indexed but you might as well try to get them indexed by adding the URL to googles addurl tool which tells google to spider the site
b) links are on pages that are blocked from bots or noindex. in that case they are useless for SEO
c) site was banned from Google. If a site used to be indexed and is not deindexed not by the owner but by Google you want to get your links off of those pages because you could get penalized as a result
Paraphrase the articles on the highest traffic pages to your secondary site and/or tweak the keyword targets
