Minimum of 500 words on a page. If the page is informative and not repetitious you can make it as long as you want you'll never get penalized for adding too much good content. Some wikipedia pages for instance are extremely long.

But the reality is if you're not a site with user generated content

a) who's got that amount of time to dedicate to every single page

b) overly wordy pages on a commerce site kills conversion rates

c) chances are that much content could be broken up into a few pages which all target different keywords better

There are so many things that could have caused this it's impossible to speculate without knowing the URL and looking at the old site which can probably be pulled up in archive.org. But yes, GWMT analysis is a good place to start.

reciprical linking is no longer a good strategy. google knows it's a "you do something for me i'll do something for you" deal and discounts them

Definitely remove the pages from the server and 404 them, you are lucky they linked to internal pages and not the homepage or you would have many many hours of reaching out to webmasters on your hands.

This is a simple fix. and 404s are ok if the 404's are not a result of dead links pointing to no longer existing pages on your site. external sites 404ing to you is fine.

If the site is indexed and getting crawled Google is constantly looking at your site and ranking it based upon what it sees.

submit new sitemaps and whatever else you need to do to show google your new content and remove your old content.

yup. try it again be selecting "exact match" in the left hand side of the Google keyword tool and you'll see something more like 60 or so instead of 301k sorry to say. I haven't looked it up but i can tell you almost no one is searching for that.

anyway what is for sale in AZ, you are real estate so "real estate" might be your main target not "for sale" but you'll have a hard time getting an EMD for realestate location domain names, so you might want to go with branding + keyword.

c) put on homepage footer only, not global. If the footer is global, simply create a homepage-footer.php file.

yes,it can be considered spammy  especially if you have tons of navigation links/anchor text all with apple in them.

You can add some but I would remove them in places that don't make sense for the reader.

Definitely no follow. You have nothing to lose and you protect yourself. You can be penalized by having so many dofollow links, nofollowing them completely protects your site and doesn't change your page juice or anything negative by nofollowing them.

canonical the page to to widgets.php and address the page=all parameter in GWMT URL parameter handling section.

use the rel prev/next tag for paginating pages not the canonical.- but the main widgets page should be canonicalled to itself to prevent this from happening

Using the disavow on the main domain disavows all internal pages on that domain so do that.

Contact the owner(s) and ask them if they know they've been hacked. They are all most likely the same owner under one hosting account and were all compromised, the ones i looked at were all the same template.

If you can't get a hold of the owner you can track down his hosting company and tell them the issue and they should assist.

These are no one or two page sites so u need to take care of it

Make them as unique and separate as possible. Different templates, different hosting, different email contact, different contact info on  domain registration, write content on the page and geo target the wording.

I agree, i would ask the company if they have a plug in or some work around. if this CMS doesn't support it, maybe it makes sense to look at a CMS that is more up to date

reviews are in (also microformatting rich snippets will show the stars in search results) - testimonials often seem fake, anyone can write and post anything on their site. with reviews you can see where it is coming from so lends credibility.

I agree. All of these sites can be scrubbed because it's the same owner it looks like. Write him a email telling him his sites have been hacked and it should get his/her attention and you can get them all taken down at once. If your site has not been penalized from it there is no need to bring attention to yourself.

I'm not sure how to track down the hacker which was one of your questions. You need to keep an eye out though now that you know you are under attack.

why is it hard to restate the content in a different way? reword it. If it's products then change the order and write unique content on the bottom. By east west north south exactly what types of regions are you talking about and why do you need three sites to accomplish this instead of one with geo targeted LPs?
