What you've described sounds like a standard penalty for 'Unnatural Links' as Google would call it.  If you've submitted the same article to multiple sites, or a spun article to multiple sites it's highly likely that this is the cause.  Sorry!

If you have access to Google Webmaster Tools, then go to the 'Manual Action' section and if you've been manually penalized, it will tell you there.

I recommend deleting the articles where possible and disavowing all the sites that you submitted the articles to, then filing a 'Reconsideration Request' with Google.

If there's no manual action, still delete the articles.  Google now has negative link juice from poor quality links, so even without the manual action, this could still be the cause.

Here's my view on the %'s:

1. Site had some issues and was down for 3-4 hours.   0.25% - Google discounts downtime if it's occasional
2. To reduce the load site was blocked for all IP's other than our country for three days - It depends how much traffic is from other countries.  If all your traffic was from other countries, then it would be 10%.  If it's half your traffic from other countries, 5%, etc..
3. Google sent us an alert - Googlebot found an extremely high number of URLs on your site. (Most of these pages are no indexed or have a canonical) 0 - 5% - This doesn't sound like a particularly serious alert
4. Banner advertisements on publisher websites that linked to our site via affiliate URL reduced by 60% Again you need to monitor what % of your traffic comes from these affiliate sites.  If 20% of your traffic is from these affiliate schemes, then this would account for a 12% drop in traffic.

The MyBlogGuest network got penalised at the start of May, if you have any articles out there that you placed via MyBlogGuest, that's a potential problem.  Also you need to delete any links that are automated.There are a lot of factors that effect SEO, it could be a competitor has overtaken you for some of your main keywords, in which case you need to do some more high quality link building.  Is your content up-to-date, etc?Hope that helps!

Google have said that if you have the same site at a different URL then they may apply the same penalty to the new site as they did to the old one, therefore if you wish to redirect a site, I would recommend doing it at the same as you make some other significant changes to it.

I came up with a way of doing this which should work.

On the old domain redirect everything to the home page and then on the home page create a noindex, nofollow page with the following line of code in it:

Where example.com is your NEW domain name.

This way you're using a redirect at the html level, but telling search engines to not index or follow the page.  This should work!

Hi,

I've got a Pro account and am wanting to show reports that DO include the Google Places results.  For their most important keyword phrase they're in 1st place if you search for them (hair extensions London), however they're in position 40 or something if you ignore this, which makes the report pretty meaningless, as most of their searches are local.

It would be great if there was an option of including Google Places in the MOZ Ranking Reports.  Is this possible?
