Michael, from what i can tell, your website is built using WordPress. We typically recommend installing the Yoast SEO plugin and using that--which will help with your robots.txt file. If you need more information, take a look here: https://yoast.com/wordpress-robots-txt-example/

Generally, most of your site won't need to be disallowed in the robots.txt file, unless you're using tags and categories on your site. Yoast typically helps disallow the proper directories that you need to disallow.

One thing that you need to be aware of is the fact that you don't want to disallow your .CSS or .JS files on your site, many of the themes nowadays will put those files in your wp-admin folder--which by default typically gets disallowed.

Typically, we recommend making sure that you're listed where you think you should be listed and linked--like on industry-related websites. Then, the typical social media websites are where you should have a presence, as well. Analyze your competitors' links and see where they have important quality links (see if you can get those links, as well).

Concentrate on generating good shareable content on your site--then share that content on social media and work on social media engagement. That will get you the natural links that your site needs.

What we recommend is that you concentrate on one domain name to build up that site's domain authority. The other domain names should be 301 redirected to that main site.  If you have domain names that are related to certain products or categories, you may want to redirect those to an internal page on your site.

What we have seen in the past is that if you have too many domain names pointing and redirecting to your main site you can run into ranking problems, even incur penalties from Google. So, I would limit the number of domains that you redirect to your main site.

If you decide to set up "micro sites" on those domains, keep in mind that they are going to need a lot of attention such as link building and social media marketing--it may end up hurting your main site if you were to have low quality or "think" content sites pointing to your main site.

Whenever you use domain "masking", you're setting yourself up for search engine ranking problems. You're essentially making the same content available on both domain names. That leads to duplicate content, and the search engines (mainly Google) will pick which domain they prefer and show that on in the search results (usually the one that they crawl first).

The only proper way to deal with this is to set up 301 Permanent Redirects from one domain to the other.

When it comes to the trailing slash on website URLs, the proper way is to use a 301 Permanent Redirect. However, you can help minimize this problem by fixing all of the internal links on the site so that you always link internally to the version that you prefer.

Currently, Google is really only sending traffic to news websites that use Google AMP. So, at this time, blogs and ecommerce sites don't need to set up Google AMP pages. Blogs should still do it, as I suspect that Google may enable it for blogs in the future.

As long as the ecommerce site is mobile friendly then I wouldn't worry about AMP right now.

Whenever you move domain names, you should make sure that you use 301 Permanent Redirects (you may want to verify this by looking at the server headers, doing a server header check).

Then, you need make sure that the Google Change of Address Tool has been used to tell Google that they moved from the old domain to the new domain. You'll need to verify the old domain and the new domain in the same Google Search Console account, and then do the Change of Address.

Whenever you move to another domain like this, the old domain name will still remain indexed for at least a year or so (sometimes longer), as that's just how Google handles it. So if the old domain name still shows up for certain search queries then that's normal.

In any case, though, 301 redirects must be used and the Change of Address Tool should be used, as well.

What you're showing is not the results of a Google Algorithm update. When there's an update, the traffic goes down suddenly--not slowly over time. It looks more like there was some new links or new traffic to the site for another reason--which Dmitrii is referring to, it doesn't appear to be an algorithm update.

Generally I wouldn't consider that "black hat", although it is hiding the content on the page--which is against Google's Webmaster Guidelines. They've mentioned before that if you have content that is "hidden" like this to most users, the expanded content should be displayed in the expanded mode, not in the way it's being done here.

This generally doesn't quality as being "black hat", though.

Yes, Majestic, LinkResearchTools, ahrefs.com, moz.com/researchtools/ose/ all pull from different sources. It is not necessary to have the mall but if you want a complete picture of your backlinks you need to run your test on multiple tools. We use the four mentioned above in combination. This is a especially important if you're working on a penalty removal.

When it comes to SEO tools, each of them have their pluses and minuses. We currently subscribe to ALL of the link tools, for example, because every link tool has different link data. We must pull all the data from all those tools, put them into one spreadsheet, and then review the links from there. So, I don't recommend unsubscribing to the link tools, those are necessary if you're watching your links.

When it comes to other tools, like keyword tools, you need to decide how often you use them, and which one(s) you prefer. There are redundancies amongst them, but each tools has a different data source.

There are restrictions for certain locations,  based on what I see in Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulation_of_electronic_cigarettes.  You may need to find the laws in your location and see what's required in your location.

As for a standard text or other popup, if your country doesn't require it, you may not need to have a popup (or you may need to determine the user's location based on their IP address and have it popup for certain users only). For standard text, I would look at some of your competitors to see if what they are doing--and consult your attorney or lawyer to make sure your business is compliant (they may provide you with the text to use).

Shares on certain social networks don't necessarily have an effect from one social network to another. Google Plus doesn't necessarily have more ranking power--it doesn't work that way. What is more important to Google is the actual rate of engagement and who is sharing/interacting with it.

If one post is shared by an influencer and there are a lot of comments, that will have more ranking power than a post that's made and no one shares it. Or lots of non-influencers (spam accounts or fake profiles) share it.

Look for actual engagement and shares by influencers, not whether it's shared on one particular social network.

Even though you update your title tag on your page, Google from time to time changes the title tag in the search results. If they decide that there's a better title tag that gets more clicks, then they're going to change.

Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do about Google changing your title tag. You can, though, look at the title tag that Google is using and see if you can determine how they are coming up with that particular title tag. For example, if your site is using a breadcrumb trail, there's a good chance that they may pick up on that and change your title tag.

What's also frustrating is that Google will also change your title tag in the search results for certain search queries--I've noticed that they'll change it for one keyword but not another.

It does sound like you have sorted this out, though, I have run into issues where the site's theme conflicts with other SEO settings. Glad you figured it out.

Logan is correct--if you look at the canonical tag in your example in the source code you're not using the full URL, you're only using a snippet (the relative) URL. So, rather than /barn-junior/tilbehor/hansker-votter/junior you need to change it to https://www.gsport.no/barn-junior/tilbehor/hansker-votter/junior.

Yes, that should work just fine. As Logan mentioned, I recommend you test it in the robots.txt testing tool in Google Search Console.

While the UK's laws are different the US FTC laws and guidelines, Google doesn't change their rules or guidelines based on where a website or company is based. So, generally speaking if you are going to provide products or services in exchange for a blogger writing about your product or service they need to disclose their relationship with you.

Blogger outreach isn't dead--many are using it successfully, even with disclosures. What's important is that you not worry about whether or not the links you get are going to help your site's search engine rankings. Get links from bloggers who will send you traffic to your website and help you get more business. Then, when there's more traffic, more mentions of your brand, and more social media engagement with you, the search engine rankings will happen.

When it comes to duplicate content, Google typically compares one web page versus another web page. So, if the site does have a different company name (franchise name) and carries a different set of products or a some similar products, then it sounds as if the pages on the site won't be considered duplicates. They may be similar, but not necessarily duplicates. It would be best to make sure that each site doesn't use the same exact web design template, as well.

You can run the site through Copyscape.com and Siteliner.com to identify duplicate content issues with the sites. Most good writers will be able to write the content in a way that talks about the same products or services but doesn't include the same text as other sites.

Jessica, whenever you think of adding a meta robots noindex, follow tag, I prefer to try to determine if you need the page at all on the website. If you're using a canonical tag, then that's fine--but we prefer to remove pages entirely from the site if you're going to use the noindex, follow tag. A page with that tag on it generally doesn't provide any SEO value to the site, it only allows engines to continue to crawl the site.

When you mention that, the follow tag will actually allow the site to be crawled.

If the page on your site is useful for users, then keep it (and use a canonical tag if necessary to prevent duplicate content issues). Otherwise, consider removing the page if you don't want it indexed.

When you have a page that's still on the site (even though it's removed from navigation), the page is still on the site and indexed--so users will still get to it. It's still probably going to rank for at least something in the search results.

What you need to do is figure out if the page still contains valid content and is useful for visitors. There's obviously a reason that the page was requested to be removed by the content manager, though.

If the page needs to be removed from navigation, and it won't have any internal links, then most likely you probably need to remove the page, as well. What I would do is set up a 301 Permanent Redirect from that URL to another on-topic page on the site. As long as you use a 301 redirect and redirect it to another internal page on the same domain, you won't lose and "SEO value".
