Why domain authority increase
there could be several reasons. Has Moz found new sites pointing to your domain. Check out this link explaining the basics of Domain authority, http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority but as they look at links and Moz Trust it could be a case of you getting a few good links, and removing a few bad links. Also note that a drop is not always a bad thing and really you should compare your score against your competitors. Your DA has increased by 3, but if all your competitors has increased by 4 then in theory you are worse off, but this also applies, if you drop by 1 and ur competitors drop by 2 then you have gained even though you have dropped so I would always recommend benchmarking yourself against your competitors and not using it as a stand alone number.

When does SEO.Moz run its crawl?
I had never even heard of 904 errors before encountering them with Moz. The first time I ever saw it come up it coincided with a bandwidth usage issue that the client was having as well as the most significant/sudden drop off in organic rankings I've ever seen personally. Despite the fact that the client did make changes to his hosting plan to alleviate any bandwidth issues, the 904 errors continue to persist and the organic rankings continue to be less than stellar. Can 9xx errors like have a significant negative impact on organic rankings?

UK Times Pay wall effect on links?
I think that only works for the google news bot but does not work for general crawling and passing pr, But I could be wrong. But if Martijn is correct, the question is does the uk times allow google bot allow access to that page. A quick test would be search for a line of text from the article and see if google links to the correct page. If it does not get a hit then either google has not crawled that page yet or can't crawl the page. And if its been a few weeks and it still can't get a hit in google search then it most likely that its not crawlable ( as is a big site you would expect a normal page to have been well crawled in that time frame) Side note: I think it would be a good test for someone to setup a paywall page which links to a page with no other back links and see if google can pick that page up ( maybe give it anchor text of a load of jibberish and see if that page ranks for that jibberish)

Drop of 11 places - server issues?
I experienced a similar issue recently with a client. A few 904 errors seemed to coincide with a notice in the client's 3d cart CMS that they were short on bandwidth. We also saw a VERY significant drop in rankings across the board. We upgraded the hosting plan and the 904 errors went away temporarily, and a very modest improvement in rankings followed, but not a return to normal. It's now about 2-3 months after we first saw the 904 errors and I've just noticed another one that has come up.

When to break a universal 301
Hi,Gavin, Why you're still using 301 redirect to redirect the authority from the old domain to the new domain, you should start building links for the new domain and possibility reach out to those people that linked to the old domain to link to your new domain so that your new site can stand on its own. If you're only relying on the authority from the old domain and not build any new back links, I'm not sure if it can ever stand on it's own. Keep working hard on building links my 2 cents. Thank you!

Link Building Equity and Penguin
IMO its great to give content away in a boring niche. As long as it's going to a site where someone can benefit from it and guide them to your site. How else do you plan on building external links to your site? Naturally? by creating great content and sharing it via social media (what if there is very low social for this topic)...

Increase Search Ranking for CEO
I might do a combo of adding a page to the company website's about section, as the company site already has domain authority and could easily rank well. For example, if you do a search for "Rand Fishkin" his SEOmoz bio is the first thing to show up in the SERPS: http://www.seomoz.org/team/randfish. Make sure to link that page to any other page on the web about her. It also wouldn't hurt to set up a simple website with her matching name domain (for example mine is http://jensablelopez.com - that other pesky Jennifer Lopez has all other domains taken up.) and make sure that site links to the company about page as well as social channels. But if you want the images to change, then make sure that the images on the company website and the new domain, as well as the social sites really, are all optimized for her exact name. Make sure the image name is her name and the alt text is her name and any links. I'd also set up a google+ account and add a few images of her that she's ok with and tag herself in them. Google is showing G+ images in image search now and this is a good way to get your photos out there. Hope that helps!
