Use subfolders. Remember to use the hreflag tag, inclufing the country code.
If you have the ccTLD domains, redirect them to the subfolder.
For example: If you have yoursite.co.uk point it to yoursite.com/uk/
Also, remember to add every subfolder to Google Search Console (Google Web Masters Tools) and declare for each one the country that is itended to.

So you've done everything just fine. Even more, you've said that have used consistenly the https://www.mysite.com, that's fine in my opinion.

Yes, it is case sensitive.
Remember that you must not have many pages like that.
The first thing you should do is elimiate those duplicate pages.
In the case you can´t eliminate them, you have 2 way to ask the google bot not to index them:
1- By robots.txt with a 'Disallow:' instruction
2- By a meta tag with a_ '' _in the

Hi Radi,
It's a common rule to switch the footer sitewide links to Nofollow. Google usually tends to consider those links as put on purpose to get SERPs benefit, so then you may get a penalty.
Another way to analyze this situation is that, when a sitewide link is on a web that have hundreads or thousand pages, you will be getting hundreads/thousands links with just the same anchor text: That is also a reason to be penalized.

Your impression is right, giving the name of targeted keyword to the image is usefull in a SEO perspective.
In every page that you want to put any image, it is advisable to optimize every image that way. Even if its the same image.

I don't think that searching your exact site URL is a good statement when asking for your indexing status.
In your case, I'd go to search console and check the queries that the site is ranking in wich country.
Remember that each site must be configured by their own in Search Console. (I understand that you've already done that).
and in a more accurate way, search for any keyword, that you are ranking with both sites, in both google.nl and google.be

Google does not want duplicate content. In your case. I'd suggest your client to re-write the content.
Remember that having unique content is what Google loves the most.

I understood that you wanted the magic solution to increase authority and better serps just quickly. That will never be the case.
On the other hand, the ultimate tip is to increase the ctr in serps, that makes you more authoritative to Google. There is a blog post at moz stating that.

Have you used Href lang tag? Have you declared the country in Google WebMasters Tool?
Have you done any linkbuilding? its advisable to get links from the geolocation that you want to rank. i.e. from spanish sites when ranking for google.es

As a user usability, dont remove the TAGs.
As you've said, the recommended action in these cases is to apply the nofollow/nonindex.
Personally, i'd not remove the tags. It will be just fine with the nofollow/nonindex meta tags.
