The amount of requests I get for links is mind numbing. Yet few respond to my request for blog submissions. What is going on?? People want links yet they dont want to write - its not that hard!

Rather than ignore all these requests for links i have decided to write the articles for anyone who now requests a link on my website (providing I like the site and its related to my niche area).

I charge £9.99 to cover my admin (It will need to go up). I do not want any links back I just want inspiration to write and unique content for my website.

So these are my questions to link builders - what do you think? Would you be interested now all the hard work has gone?

yeah i suppose you are right BUT we were just about to start a link building program - if anyone was to do a SEOmoz analysis of the site surely they would think the website is questionable???

The website in question was hacked four years ago and there was porn on the servers. It was used as a peer to peer torrent streamer.  The images were deleted.

We have just found inappropriate inward bound links (with great link juice!!)  - how can we remove these links - or should we?

any advice would be appreciated

yes - they were my thoughts too - but how will google know they are paid links - he payment is for the review  - not the links - in theory anyway

google does not like duplicate content .....so do not copy word for word...but really as the MagentoWebDeveloper stated its much better to write original content - you can base the facts and figures from other website but re-write with a different style -

These guys have a service for bloggers and advertisers - advertisers submit their wares for review and bloggers review providing text links - they also let people know they are getting paid for the review

I have had a few problems like this and it has been due to bugs in the cart.

Start checking G Analytics -  has there been a drop in sales for one type of user. (ie internet explorer vs chrome)....in my case my add to basket buttons were not performing properly in IE....hopefully you find your answer

Yes - my competitor - I held number 2 for 2.5 years as well but due to some site rearrangement have fallen for this term - but am really annoyed if they are paying for these links - they are chasing very similar terms to me and at the peak of the gardening season seem to have raised to the top -

I have just watched the overtake of the number one UK position for garden accessories.

The old 1st place holder held it for the last 2.5 years (min) ....taking a look at the back links of the number one holder it seems they are paid links ...as they are little follow image adverts with anchor text posted on the home page of niche blogs, forums and design related website..

....so is this white hat or black hat?

hi there - well I have pretty much followed the advice on here for my website (at least tried)

feel free to take a look - Garden Beet performs very well in natural search - but then I spend oddles of time optimising - onsite and offsite

The best offsite SEO strategy is getting high quality links that point to your domain - I have seen my website perform well - the problem is getting the right anchor links poiinting to the correct page - that kind of task is what will give you a position in the top 3

The best onsite SEO tasks are all the meta tags, unique content etc BUT your site has to look good to get people to share or bookmark your site -while a sexy site is overlooked by the robots its what draws people in

What I find amazing is the gap in knowledge between SEO people and developers - and dont believe developers who says they know all about SEO - unless they are actually doing it regularly - I fail to see how they can keep up -

if you have a very large website sometimes developers do not understand the key terms you are optimising for a given page  - and inadverntely apply a h tag to a non-optimised sub heading- you need to watch the developers for little issues like this to ensure you SEO objectives are being achieved for each page  - even templates sometimes get assigned the wrong h tags - duplicating the error site wide - it is difficult to know whether fixings errors such as these has a direct impact on search straight away

but I do know when all my meta was incorrectly copied over to a new site I lost over 50 key search positions - as soon as they were restored my positions were reinstated - let me say that was not fun - but clearly demonstrates the importance of correct meta titles and descriptions.

I would have thought your energy would be better spent writing more articles and submitting to less directories.
