SERP Overlay Issue in Firefox
I'm having the same issue. Suddenly all the SERP overlays are missing in search results in Firefox. I cleared cache, History and logins...still didn't fix it. Also I restarted the browser. Chrome is difficult to develop in, so it is not my long term choice. Any idea when this might be fixed?

Google Analytics Offline Conversions
IfByPhone actually owns Mongoose Metrics now. I manage a fairly large amount of AdWords campaigns. I truly believe that the free conversion tool that AdWords provides outranks any other service for the simple fact that there is no cost and you get the same amount of information. I wish there was a better way to tie revenue to keywords.

Domain change after over optimisation
Hi Kevin, It's inconclusive how careful you have to be when starting afresh after an irreparable spam penalty - also, while I understand that the client needs to see results, I have anecdotal evidence of horrific backlink spam being resolved and penalties being lifted - my former agency worked on a site last year with a backlink profile full of thousands of bad links. Literally thousands had to be removed or disavowed. It took about six or seven months to fix, unfortunately, but the penalty was lifted earlier this year after the biggest link take-down project I have ever seen. However, if you simply cannot fix this, I would go with the .com. Penalties certainly regularly pass through redirects, and I would not be confident that other forms of redirection like 302s and meta refreshes wouldn't count in this case too. Even without a redirect, what Mary says about penalties following brands is feasible since it's not going to be a secret to Google that this is the same business on a new domain name. One thing is certainly true: starting with the new domain is the only way to go if the client cannot commit to a lengthy take-down process. Have another look at whether you have exhausted the disavowal process though... there might be more to get out of that route before you ditch the domain completely. Disavowal is meant to help in situations like this, but it's also true that the team there can be very difficult to get a positive response out of, even when you have done your best to remove the links and are demonstrating that you can't do more. Keyword + Location domains
Just to add to the chatter. I agree, do not go out and buy a bunch of local URLs in this case. I run several large sites that we have to focus on local search for them. I do not use the subdomain, but use a local folder/file system such as www.domain.com/$service-I-offer/$st-$city You can do other variants of this, but you get the idea. I do not use subdomains as over time when I build links, etc for my city pages that also builds up the authority of my site. This has worked very well for me across multiple sites that focus on different services/areas. I would present this to the client that you are building for the long term. All of those separate domains are now dividing up the authority between them, vs building the authority for a central brand. It is divided attention and in business, that is not good on multiple levels. My other point is that, do you know in fact that all these competitors are ranking due specifically to the local domains? That is an assumption, and may be false. You can present to the client all the history around EMD and if you do a deep dive on those other sites, it may be they have a better on page optimization, link profile, load time, etc etc. Do some homework and you will probably come back with at least 5 things that you need to do for your clients to improve ranking and none of them will be to go out and buy local domains.
