You could also consider using a tracked phone number so you can measure call conversions. I use http://www.kall8.com/index.php

RE: Social toolbars and SERPS
Most likely it will not hurt your rankings or leak link juice. I would recommend going into webmaster tools and viewing the URL as googlebot to see what comes back. You might also check your logfiles to see if googlebot is accessing that specific JS file.
Would you still put the toolbar on there if Google did not exist? If yes I would leave it.
Finally, you can test this by monitoring rankings:
1. Check your rankings.
2. Put on the toolbar, monitor rankings weekly for 4 weeks.
3. If rankings drop, remove toolbar and monitor rankings weekly for another 4 weeks.
If rankings go back up then I'd be suspicious about rolling it out to hundreds of sites.

RE: How to proceed with domain switch AND url change
I would do both at the same time that way if you take any hit/penalty for the changes it is only once. You may also want to submit a change of address through webmaster tools for the subdomain switch.

RE: What is your favorite alternative search engine?
I do quite a few searches on twitter; unfortunately usually there is even more "noise" then even Google shows.

RE: What is your favorite alternative search engine?
Yeah I like that one too.

What is your favorite alternative search engine?
Outside of Google & Bing what is your favorite search engine and why? This could be for personal use, competitive research, user experience.

Do you think video syndication is a good link building tactic?
I am creating a process & strategy for publishing videos and would like some feedback on if it is worth syndicating the videos on multiple third party sites either manually or via TubeMogul.
Currently the plan is to put the video on our main site, create a video sitemap, submit to webmaster tools so that hopefully the videos on our site show up in the SERPs. Then wait a week and syndicate on third party sites such as youtube, vimeo, viddler, etc. Are there any negative side affects?
My thinking is that some people may only see the video if it is on youtube and the other niche sites because they may search those sites for videos rather than Google/Bing. Your thoughts?

RE: Some site pages are removed from Google Index
You should also check Google Webmaster Tools for messages from Big G. They provide good insight on crawl issues quite a bit of the time too.

RE: Crawl Budget vs Canonical
Another great way to go is to not put the category in the product URL. That was usually the best solution when I work on e-commerce sites.

RE: On Page 301 redirect for html pages
I am suprised no one is recommending using the httpd.conf file. It functions the same as the.htaccess file except it is much more efficient because it is loaded into the servers memory which means the file is opened & read once. With an .htaccess file the server reads the file on every request.
Also, if PHP is enabled on the server you can use php code in html pages. There is a php or server setting where you can say read html pages as php.

RE: Need advice on diplaying content for Search
Are you looking for a script to rotate search results or a site search engine? For site search take a look at Search Spring http://www.searchspring.net/ and/or Google: http://www.google.com/sitesearch/

RE: Submitting Same Press Release to Multiple Sources
There is no benefit is submitting the same press release over & over, as you said it is duplicate content. It can be beneficial to rotate the press release distribution service on different press releases because you will get backlinks from unique domains. Take a look at PR Newswire & PR Web.

RE: Pop up livechat - annoying or better conversions?
Test it, thats the only way to know. Only do the pop up on 20% of your traffic because traditionally pop ups are annoying & hurt conversion rate.

RE: Eliminating outbound links for long tail-targeting pages
Yes, when you link to a page that is not indexed from a page that is indexed it will help. The tricky part is getting the currently indexed page re-crawled so it picks up the link to the non indexed page.
A good tactic for getting the page recrawled is RSS such as linking to a page from a new blog post. Or tweet the URL to the page.

RE: Eliminating outbound links for long tail-targeting pages
Just to clarify, outbound page rank flow is to links off your site, not other internal pages. I would leave privacy & tos links but it is good to cross link to other pages on your site via related pages. Here is a good post on that: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/site-architecture-for-seo

RE: What tool do you use to check for URLs not indexed?
Yeah I do it manually now so was looking for something more efficient.

RE: Has anyone found a way to get site links in the SERPs?
I have a site with DA of 41 and another with a DA of 30 that both have sitelinks

RE: Has anyone found a way to get site links in the SERPs?
One item that will help with sitelinks is having your site verified in GWT and a clean sitemap.xml submitted to them with the URLs you want for sitelinks being the first URLs in the sitemap. I have worked on two sites that did not have sitelinks for thier brand once I did this they showed up in a week.
Sometimes the sitelinks will disappear after a few weeks and then reappear in a couple weeks when they first start showing up for your site.

What tool do you use to check for URLs not indexed?
What is your favorite tool for getting a report of URLs that are not cached/indexed in Google & Bing for an entire site? Basically I want a list of URLs not cached in Google and a seperate list for Bing.
Thanks,
Mark
