Google is no longer ranking home page but sub page lower, why?
But why would they rank the page lower than the home page was ranked if they think it is more relevant? And the linking is something that needs to be worked on. Up to this point there has not been much done. We are doing more social now though and that should help a little.

Why do they rank the home page?
That is easier said than done We are working on pointing more signals to that page though.

Google is ranking the wrong page
I'd break down your footer link by taxonomies. Motorcycles: parts, tires, etc. ATV's: parts, tires, etc. Right now it's not really user friendly, and doesn't provide a lot of value.

Rel="canonical" questions?
We put rel=canonical on it. Now there are several other reasons that we have way to many pages indexed. Big project coming soon, I hope!

Does google like Category pages or pages with lots of Products on them?
We are currently having meetings about the bigger issues, but I need examples like this (individual pages) to explain the reasoning why we need to make changes. This is a very big site and it will take some time to get the needed changes done. Also they asked me directly about these pages. I just enjoy getting other peoples feed back, so thank you.

PR web anchor text
I'd suggest keeping it to 2 links. That' s just my gut talking, though. Less can be more. I have some inbound links from press releases I published on PRWeb from 2006 that are PR3 now and don't seem be hurting me at all. They occasionally send traffic to my site. I can tell you're smart enough to steer clear of the half-million or so free Press release services that host web spam. You would never hire a service or buy software for posting to "10,000 press release sites" for $4.99. If you're willing to spend $50 to $200 to put your story on a curated release site like PRWeb where it will be edited, and where it may be picked up by bloggers, then that sounds legitimate to me. Those links shouldn't bite. I never post to a PR site that doesn't give me the right to remove the content at some point in the future. Just in case...

Why did google pick this page to rank over another one?
Yes i used the tools and i got the same results you did. My question is if I use some anchor text and point them to the second page from the first page and other relevant pages on the site will it help with the rankings? Real example: I want to have it rank for motorcycle tires, however, gogole is ranking http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/cl/50/Tires-and-Wheels the highest and also it puts http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/d/12/Motorcycle-Tires and http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/t/49/-/181/750/Motorcycle-Tires-All before http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/c/49/-/181/Motorcycle-Tires and this is the one they wan to rank. I started working here about 1 month ago and I am looking at ways I can get the target page to rank. Right now it is now where and the non target page is ranking on page three. Why does google pick that page over the target one?

Pagination or View All
lol. Hey Derek! Ya, I would assume that page ranks well since its a single url and doesnt change based on the ajax/java functionality. Getting into multiple urls in search results based on categories, filters and groupings gets real hairy real fast. I would recommend thinking through this before you do it. Google will start to index all the page variations (even with canonicalization in place) and then you start getting duplicate content, or unwanted indexed pages. i would still use the "view all" or make sure that you have a good internal linking structure along with the canonical tagging to get the information architecture pointing to the right spots still. Hit me up at our next event and lets chat a bit about it.

How important is it to fix Server Errors?
It is my understanding that marking the answers as fixed simply tells Google that you no longer want to see the message, rather than actually asking Google to try accessing the erroneous resource again or to reinclude it in the index. On that basis, marking the errors as fixed isn’t important at all as Google will establish for itself that the error has been resolved.

Two Sites Similar content?
Google is a joke ever since Penguin and Panda so I hope my real example shows you that you can't leave anything up to them.

Text Placement?
If you have logic behind it, If you can create this 'more' button that it does not reload page(Ajaxed) and it still indexes all text on the same page and if this is not something that will disturb visitors visually - definitely go for it! Just remember the date when you will implement that and closely watch your conversions! regards, Jungles
