Why am I ranking high for a keyword that is nowhere on my page?
Hi Jeffrey, These questions are always so interesting but to give an accurate answer we'd need more info like what the keyword is, if it's at all relevant to what you do etc. In short, it's been many moons since Google just ranked you for words and phrases that could be found on your website. They do still help, but it's absolutely possible to rank for something without mentioning it, provided the topic is similar. For example, if you run a car hire company and only ever use the word "hire" across your site, you will definitely still rank for "car rental" as well. For several years now Google has been improving the way they "understand" the content on your site. As these improvements continue, just how far removed those related terms can be also increases. If a human can make the logical connection between two topics, chances are so can Google and so you can rank for these connected things. I actually wrote quite a lengthy response that covered this same topic a few weeks back which might be worth a read too. Basically, the shoe company Hype DC here in Australia almost never uses the word "shoe" or "shoes" yet their rankings for those terms are excellent. Hope that helps!

Google Listing Brand Name as Page Title rather than actual set Title
Hi there Sometimes, this is what Google does. They do it for some of our clients as well. Here's more information at SEW. There are recmomendations from Google saying that your homepage title should have your brand toward the front, while internal pages should have target keywords toward the front of the title tag. I would leave your titles the way they are because if Google wants to change it, they will. Let me know if you have any questions or comments - good luck! Patrick

Does social media presence + inbound links outweigh bad SEO?
If you were hit by Panda... Google was telling you that your content was not up to their expectations. **Now we're bouncing between the top 10 and the top 30. ** That probably means that you have not recoved from Panda. I would be working just about 100% on content. If you improve the content then you might get more links and more social shares. People like to great sites, people share great sites.

Can you have same product name and description on a local and national site at the same time without getting dinged by google?
I would use the hreflang tag, I implemented this on a few sites that have multiple local based versions and it works wonders and you do not have to worry about cross domain duplicate content in any way. I have a site in US dollars and one in UK pounds all the content is identical and both have been checked by John Mueller at Google and he has confirmed this is a perfect use for that scenario. https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en If however they are all in the same country, then I would use the rel canonical https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139066?hl=en
