Does anyone know of a reliable social metrics tool?

So far I've tried Open Site Explorer, Tom Anthony's tools  and SEO Quake

With each one of them I get very, very different numbers.

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of changing the plugin I used on my blog for people to share my blog posts on Facebook, Twitter and Google +. If I do this, would I lose all shares (meaning that all the buttons would go back to 0, I know the shared content would still appear on people's profiles)?

Hi Craig - Ideally I would like the reviews to be hosted only on my site so that I can benefit from the fresh/unique content.

Was wondering if based on your experience you could recommend E-commerce customer reviews/ratings solutions? Or if you prefer to use in-house built solutions.

I currently have proposals from bazaarvoice, Shopzilla and Reevoo.

After the 5th of October? The EMD update was released on the 28th of September.

Funny enough, there was a Penguin update on Friday, the 5th of October. The impact of the EMD update on non English websites is very, very small if anything at all.

My money is on your website being affected by Penguin, not EMD

Thanks for your kind words. I completely agree, if you own and EMD and have been doing things well you should have very little to worry about.

They say that bad things come in threes, I'm sure that the sites that have seen a dramatic drop in positions have been affected by more than just the EMD update.

SEO stuff was never easy, and now Google is making it near impossible for most people to get it right.

I still think that the solution is the same as to many of the problems with Panda and Penguin. I own several EMD's and for most of them I still continue to rank relatively well.

I did drop 2 to 7 positions for pretty much all my competitive keywords after the update, which is what you'd expect to happen after the update. For the EMD's that have dropped from page 1 to 9 there is usually another reason behind it.

The way I see it my websites no longer get that automatic extra boost that comes with an EMD, and I need to work harder like non EMD's normally do.

This is an on-going discussion, I'm sure we'll have many different views to the problem.

I thought you had already registered the domains?

If you have already bought the domains, all you need to do is add the domain to your Cpanel using the "addon domains" option. (if you bought the domains with a different registrar to your hosting provider you will need to change the nameservers)

To redirect your old site to the new, use  an .htaccess file. http://www.search-friendly-web-design.com/general/55-301-redirect-each-page-of-site-to-new-domain-address

EMD is not really a penalty. Look at it this way; before the update because you had an exact match domain Google gave you 10 points, after the update Google has reduced that number to 3 points. You simply have lost the advantage you had of owning an exact match domain.

Moving the content to a new URL won't help you at all, what you need to do is continue to build high quality links, write great content, improve social interactions with your website, etc. (nothing new)

If you want to rank in Google UK I'd use the .co.uk domain, not only will it help you rank quicker but customers tend to trust local TLDs over .coms when it comes to purchasing online.

To move your site:

• 301 redirect all your pages to the respective pages on the .co.uk domain to make sure all the link juice and authority is passed to the new domain

• Inform Google via Webmaster Tools that you have moved your website to a new domain

It is true that too many 301 redirects could look a bit fishy.

If what you want is for people that see bobspizza.com on advertising material and type the url on their browser to be redirected to your site (and have no possible issues with Google), I'd would use a 302 redirect.

The only problem with 302 redirects is that the link juice pointing to bobspizza.com won't pass onto menu.com .

There are many hosting providers that will allow you to park and 301/302 an unlimited number of domains.

In my experience and from what I have read, aggregateRating and offers are the ones with the potential to improve your conversion rate and CTR as soon as the rich snippets are live and showing.

With aggregateRating you can get the rating stars on the search results. There are many case studies where implementing the ratings rich snippets with Schema.org has increased CTR by up to 30%

If you are thinking of using schema code on your site, that's the property I'd start with.
