Optimizing for close keyword variants
Hi, You never want to create multiple pages that are too similar as this will probably result in a penalty. The best way to do this is to create your main page and then talk about the different aspects of the content and you can use these variants in there - but don't keyword stuff. Use a word or phrase if it fits, but never just try to shoehorn it in. However, if they are very similar, you might not even need to do this because Google is good at knowing which words are similar and if your pages are good enough, it will see this. -Andy

Moving to new platform
If it's a system that doesn't support .htaccess, it's likely IIS as Kevin said. That said, when you say: So, I don't have a way to do 301 redirects. ... This makes me wonder if it's not IIS (as 301s are possible with IIS, just in a different way, as Kevin outlines). It'd be good to confirm what your hosting environment is either way though, as it'd be hard for anyone to give a decent answer without knowing this.

Duplicate Page Content - default.html
Yes, a canonical tag will fix that. You might also want to check with your developer to see if they can redirect the /default page to / without it creating a redirect loop.

301 domain name to another site
Try to put that .htaccess on the old site. It will rewrite the asked URL before it can be processed by the server. It will rewrite the request to contain the new domain. On the new domain, you already have the code to process these requests. Try that and report back. It probably works after that.

Moving my domain to weebly
The reason is that I need to update my website and that seems like an easy way to do it. My business partner can easily add content once I am finished. I do not want to use wordpress or joomla. I like that i can still keep the .html on my pages. The e-commerce part of it is so fabulously easy.

Moving/deleting blog
A lot of the content is old and I'd like to just move what is still relevant. But if these old pages are indexed, and I suddenly have fewer pages, will that hurt my overall seo ranking of my site? I am not worried about the individual links so much as they don't generate a lot of traffic.

301 lots of old pages to home page
You should try to 301 as many of the dead pagoes as possible to any relevant page you can find. This will pass on the link juice to the new page, especially if it's related content. Otherwise the link juice will be lost and eventually the search engines will drop those pages out of their index. I know doing a couple hundred pages is HUGE task, so I would focus on the most valuable pages first. Ryan is right, 404's is a fact of life. I think it's best to create a custom 404 that your visitors won't mind landing on. For this it's best to be creative, try to make them laugh or smile. Most importantly, give them something to click on. this will allow you to recapture an otherwise lost customer. The very last thing you want them to do is click on their browsers back button.Any visitor can essentially navigate to any of our other pages even though they didn't actually get the page they were originally looking for. Good luck!

Too many on page links on ecommerce site
There isn't a specific penalty, but you are diluting the flow of "link juice" by linking to everything from your homepage. If you've ever heard of link scultping (a bruce clay technique), it might be of use here. Basically you have your top menu items as normal text links, and the lower levels are pulled in through javascript so the search engines don't spider them. It gets a lot more complicated than that, but at least it will point you in the right direction.

Site description on Google has changed to a very outdated description
In general, I would suggest using the below tag to prevent the use of ODP and Yahoo directories:

Using robots.txt to deal with duplicate content
It will be any part of the URL that doesn't handle navigation, so look at what you can delete off the URL without breaking the link to the product page. Take a look at this: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2009/10/new-parameter-handling-tool-helps-with.html Remember, this will only work with Google! This is another interesting video from Matt Cutts about removing content from Google: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/01/remove-your-content-from-google.html

Index.html vs. default.html
Thank you. If that was my site, I would redirect your /index.html and /default.html pages to http://www.normas9000.com/. I would then update your canonical as well. Lastly, there is no reason to have both the default and index.html pages so I would remove one of them.
