No-Indexing on Ecommerce site
Do you have traffic data for any of these pages? If they're landing pages and garner clicks then obviously you'll want to keep them indexed. The revenue you're receiving from these pages could be due to users navigating to them from brand pages, product categories, menus, or it could be cross-selling, etc. I would say consolidate as many as you can for UX purposes so a customer doesn't have to click off of the page for another color or size.

SEO Friendly Facets
Hi This is really helpful thank you, I think at the moment I'd rather keep them from being crawled as the pages aren't helpful for crawlers. I will look into it in future if required. Thanks very much!

Crawl Depth improvements
Hey Becky, Those pages will be found by Google if you have links pointing to them somewhere on your site. In terms of crawl budget, the more page depth the more time does Google need to spend on crawling your site. However, with proper internal linking you should be able to significantly lower the amount of clicks. So the next step would be adding some links through relevant anchor texts. After you do this, watch the analytics and let me know if it had any impact. Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin

B2B Blogger Outreach
If you are looking for just straight up "B2B Blogs" and not necessarily ones that focus on cleaning, check out these 10 at http://lrgmarketing.com/blog/10-b2b-blogs-we-like-to-read/. Not sure if this helps, but Igor's tip above is good and you can also search "top commercial cleaning blogs" or "best building maintenance blogs", etc.

B2B Social Media
There is an easy way to manage your social now. Tools like RecurPost (a social media scheduler with repeating schedules) allow you to automatically share your content on your social channels in a recurring manner. Just put content into different libraries and suggest how frequently a library should post content. That is all, it will start at the top of a library and once everything has been posted once it will restart at the beginning.

Title & Keywords
I understand why this is probably a difficult situation, but I would probably look into your Search Console terms to see what people are typing the most. Being from the UK like yourself I would probably type in Henry Vacuum despite the brand actually being Numatic. As growing up I was always told it was simply a Henry vacuum or Henry Hoover, however working in industry, people may refer to them as Numatic etc. Your search console will probably provide the best idea as to what to target, but as it stands I'd still hope to rank somewhere with what you already have. As a suggestion maybe try a few titles based on Item - Category - Brand Henry Xtra Vacuum Cleaner - Numatic Vacuums - [websiteName] And then repeat your title experiments after a while to see what works best.

Fred Update & Ecommerce
I don't know of any further updates about Fred other than what is here: https://moz.com/google-algorithm-change However, over the last week (Mid May) there has been a lot of noise and fluctuation according to many sources. Let us know if there is anything we can learn by what you find out. Happy to discuss further if you share some details, but it would not be uncommon for Google to decide to push thin eCommerce pages down.

Tools for understanding customer behaviour
LuckyOrange is awesome, fairly cheap as well. You can view heatmaps, scroll stats and actual video recordings of users interacting on your website. We have used LuckyOrange for about 3 months now and have gained a lot of insight from it for our client's websites.

Menus, Ecommerce & SEO
Hi Robert Thank you for the reply. We do include mark up, H1's etc, but as some of our categories are so competitive, it is a struggle to rank for example, a level 3 > http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/mesh-office-chairs This is a lower level category page, we need to mark this up with product listing schema, but each product page has schema. I am working on adding some content to this page, but other than that - I am finding it difficult to do anything else on page to help improve SEO visibility? Are there any suggestions? I am also working on user guides - but then this could potentially rank above the category page - and wouldn't convert but help more with research/brand awareness. Thank you Becky

Duplicate H1 Question & Landing Page help
Hi Becky, Multiple H1s isn't the serious issue it used to be for SEO. Still, well-organized heading tags are great for usability and can indicate to search engines that you have spent time creating a well-organized page. Search engines also have gotten pretty smart and understand that heading tags are also being used many times for stylistic purposes, so I don't think these are going to have a huge impact on crawl budget. Your site architecture (what's linking to what) is going to impact that, not necessarily whether a navigational element is labeled with a heading tag or not. If you want to take a stab at re-organizing the heading tags on your PDPs so they make more sense, particularly from an accessibility perspective, install the Fangs add-on in Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/fangs-screen-reader-emulator/ This will allow you to see your page as a screenreader would see it. Click on the "Headers" tab in the Fangs resulting page and you'll see something like this [screenshot attached] The numbers next to each bit of text represent the heading number attached to that text....notice how they are not in any kind of hierarchical order? Not a great experience for someone using a screenreader or for a search engine trying to understand what is important on this page. You could use this output list as a map and then number headings accordingly. There may be a good number of things that just don't need a heading at all, but that just need styles attached. Hope this helps! Dana vY4ad0J.png

Keywords Dropping Out
It's not necessarily a bad thing to have a product page rank over the category page. As you said, it depends on what experience you want to give the searcher. If they've searched broadly, they might expect a broader result and will therefore result in a higher conversion rate with the landing page as they are given the options they were looking for. Rather than being given a specific product page that they weren't exactly looking for, and bouncing immediately back to search despite you offering what they were looking for on another page... If there is really not much at all that differentiates the products in a certain category, it might be worth having a look to see what kind of traffic/keywords the product page pulls in. If the category page is stronger for that term and the products, I'd even go so far as to "follow, noindex" it and work on optimising the category page for search instead (including all the long tails that the products would otherwise pull in. Optimise it for both the category _and _the product), and focus more on user experience on product pages. Obviously, this would be a case-by-case basis and I would not recommend applying this en masse. If this tends to be a pattern with your products, that you have a lot of products that are similar differing only in things like size or colour, then maybe it's time to rethink your site structure and system. Could all these product pages be a single product page with different options for ecommerce? Would this not benefit your user too, as they could land on the page and see all the options available from the single product page? Think about clothes websites (for example), you choose the model which takes you to the single product page where you can choose colour/size/etc. Would probably make SEO easier for these kinds of products too.

Why is Page Authority dropping?
Hey, Yes sorry you've lost me! I've seen a lot of backlinks from one of our sister companies in March, they are no follow, but they're footer links - would this have any impact? Thanks!

Fred Google Update & Ecommerce Sites
Hi Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen huge traffic drops, it's more than a lot of keywords have dropped out of rankings, but I think it was for pages which don't rank highly anyway. It just seems to coincide with a domain authority drop as well. I'm keeping up to date with it but can't find anything concrete on whats affected us Thanks

Alt Tags
Hi Becky, Although ALT tags might not seem like a high priority item, I do think they hold a bit of value when it comes to SEO. Without the ALT tag, the search engine doesn't know what the image is of. By adding ALT tags to all 22,000 old images on the website, we could hope that this could help to boost your rankings slightly. It will also improve the user experience (if the images don't load for them), which is important in Google's eyes. If you can't find a way to go through them quickly, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maybe find a way to tackle a thousand at a time, and so on. Hope this helps!
