Finding a specific link - Duplicating my own content
Hi Patrick, No, turns out I had been thorough and changed all the link in the sitemaps and on every page previously pointing to it. Having screaming froged it and follows the path through the rewrites etc it turns out What was causing the problem was the inbuilt layered navigation in Magento. Each CMS created page produces a navigational path to the current page just above the content in this case Home > Page1 > Sub Page etc each of these is a link to the hierarchy so the user can easily navigate. The page in question (and only this page) seems to have a special rule set up for it (must have been back in development) where the navigation becomes Home > Page1 > Page1 > Subpage where the first 'Page1' is linked to via website.co.uk/Page1 instead of website.co.uk/page1/ like the rest of the website. I have found a temporary way around it for now, having located the link until i can address the source code causing the issue

High Bounce Rate
Why don't you sell those products? Is it because those other products are inferior in quality, too expensive for value, etc.? If there are specific reasons like that, it can some times be helpful to state that specifically as a means of helping to educate your customers and potentially sway them into seeing the value of what you do sell. The other thing to look at is what keywords are driving traffic to the page. Granted, this data is hard to get but you can get a good sense of this in Search Console. Figure out why you are ranking for the things you don't sell. For example, if you have a lot of links pointing to you referring people your way referencing something you don't carry, see if there is a way to change those links to something more specific Alternatively, if you are getting enough people coming to the site interested in products you don't carry but there isn't a great reason your company doesn't carry them, maybe see if there is a way you can carry the products (or resell them or something like that). I've worked with more than one client who didn't realize so many people may be interested in Product X until they saw the search traffic and that traffic helped them decide to change products offered.

Category Page Content
Thank you, your clarification backed up my theory for most things. The changes I am making also impact design to hopefully increase conversion and userbility at the same time so I think ive got things right. Cheers for your time.

Content Audit Questions
Hi there 1. Yes, they can come back if you create unique content to that page that takes on-site factors into consideration. The climb really depends on the industry and the queries you are trying to rank for. 2. No, just because you have never had a penalty before doesn't mean the climb out of a penalty would be easier than a site that has multiple. The best course of action is to get valuable and unique content up as quickly (but efficiently) as you can and avoid penalties at all costs. 3. I would honestly run through the content audit that Moz has - it's a step by step process that will help you distinguish what content needs to be removed, updated, or consolidated. Remember - Google provides resources and steps for you to take when you have duplicate content. 4. SEO Theory has a great post about this that covers multiple areas of your SEO - from meta tags, content, and penalty recovery. I suggest you read it as it's more comprehensive than anything anyone could write here. Marie Haynes also wrote a great post for traffic performance after a penalty if you want to read into that as well (not saying you have one! It's just useful information). Hope this helps! Good luck!

CMS Pages - Multiple URLS (/)
Hi, Far from being an htacess expert, but you could also try this rule: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /+[^.]+$ RewriteRule ^(.+[^/])$ %{REQUEST_URI}/ [R=301,L] (off course I didn't invent it myself - it's coming from here: https://github.com/phanan/htaccess#force-trailing-slash ) I tried it here http://htaccess.madewithlove.be/ - and it seems to work if url is in the form mydomain.com/article => mydomain.com/article/ If you check with mydomain.com/article.htm - it's not redirected Could be an alternative if the rule proposed by Andy wouldn't work. Rgds, Dirk
