It's unlikely that they'll stop counting at all. I think that at least part of the value should still flow to the domain. i think it would be better if you could create a better version of those pages with good links and canonicalize the old ones.

RE: Homepage not ranking for targeted keywords (established site with somewhat ok UR&DR)
Hey there,
some of the natural things to look for are of course content quality and on page optimization for those kwds. Did you check these? If these are good too - then google migt not rank you because of the user experience metrics. If this is the case consider changing the design, menus, links, etc. ux is very important nowadays.

RE: How to find Spam Website?
Hi there,
you can use the Open Site Explorer moz tool to search a site and see its spam score. If it's a high one keep away

RE: SEO implications of moving fra a sub-folder to a root domain
Hey. The best thing you can do here is canonicalize everything to poitn to the new domain. It's inedbitable to lose some juice since it's actually a different domain name. If it were blog.example.com and example.com - there would have been no losses.
Cheers

RE: Does Google read dynamic canonical tags?
I Wouldn't bet on that working. Why not use the exact same code in .htaccess format, or even PHP? Javascript is a coding language that is parsed after the window starts loading, it's not like PHP where it gets parsed before the load.
Thanks

RE: No content in the view source, why?
Hey. Send over your url so we can have a look. This might be as easy as having a php problem.
Thanks

RE: Duplicate Content Question With New Domain
Hey. If you rel=canonical I don't see how these pages would rank anymore. You're basically telling google that the other pages are the better ones. Is there no going around the duplicate content? This is a really strange / problematic situation.
I think your best bet is either using some sort of iframe if that's an option (it doesn't necessarily need to look bad). Or do your best to change content.

RE: Duplicate Content
Hey,
Since anybody on the web could basically copy your content and post it on their own site without you knowing, I'm pretty sure that Google knows this and has something built in their algorythm. where there's a "first come first serve" kind of rule. If your content was the first one, it's pretty clear that it will be the one taken into account, since you won't be able to continuously track your content and make sure it's not being copied.
That being said - if you can tell them to change it - you probably should at least try.

RE: How to handle "app" pages.
Hi Don,
Thanks for the help. The pages can't be embedded or changed by clients. They won't be able to copy the content anywhere. The problem is that some of the content is just lorem ipsum text - destined to show clients what can be done within the interface.
Thanks

How to handle "app" pages.
Hey guys,
We've got an app - a drag & drop email builder - and we are looking to improve our seo efforts. That being said - we're not sure how to treat pages of the app that wouldn't tell google nothing at all basically (loads of duplicate content, lorem ipsum, etc). They're pages that are used by the clients to build their own templates ex: builder pages they are extremely useful for our clients, but GGL wouldn't prolly make too much sense out of them.
That being said - rather randomly, before we nofollow noindexed them, some of them started ranking (probably given to the really great analytics data we have on them. Loads of clients, loads of time spent on page, etc).
Can we harness them in a better way, or just nofollownoindex them? I don't really see how they can be "canonicalised" since they don't really provide any quality content for Google. Much like MOZ's keyword explorer tool for ex. Mucho quality for us - but not a google fan favorite content-wise.
Thanks for your help

RE: Duplicate Content - Pricing Plan tables
Hi Nigel,
Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.

RE: Any advantage spreading linked-back articles vs concentrating them?
More is obviously always better, but you should definitely milk the opportunity to your best powers. Having a reputable site mention you multiple times is a really great thing.

RE: Duplicate Content - Pricing Plan tables
Hi Cesare,
It does help somewhat, but it's not the answer I've been looking for. Is there a way to only canonicalize part of a page (say a div tag)? Because the rest of the page would be 100% relevant.
Thanks!

Duplicate Content - Pricing Plan tables
Hey guys,
We're faced with a problem that we want to solve. We're working on the designs for a few pages for a drag & drop email builder we're currently working on, and we will be having the same pricing table on several pages (much like Moz does). We're worried that Google will take this as duplicate content and not be very fond of it.
Any ideas about how we could integrate the same flow without potentially harming ranking efforts?
And NO, re-writing the content for each table is not an option. It would do nothing but confuse the heck out of our clients.

Thanks everybody!

RE: Is it Okay to have "No Response" pages?
Hi,
Definitely fix! If this is true than it means that some of your actual bisitors also encounter this, which means pretty poor page analytics, which can be very harmful for SaeO ofc.
Thanks!

RE: Different WP Taxonomies seen as duplicate content
Thanks for the reply Don. Solid points, all of them, however not really ideal case-scenario, not solution.
Tags are more helpful than Categories on a per-page basis (especially on our end) so we'd rather use those. This presents a diff problem, because using 4 tags on a post would duplicate it across the tax page for all 4 tags OFC. I'm really curious what others think of this as well, simply giving upgood user functionality doesn't seem to be a smart strategy in my eyes. I would probably go ahead and noindex nofollow all other taxonomies except on.
By the way - this situation happened with a category vs author page. So not even cat vs tag. Even more annoying!
