I would like to see the pages, because i cant see how numbers would help conversion.
Jou could also load numbers after a delay, but proabably the easiest answer would be to make sure you have description tags,a nd place plety of other text for SE's to sample

RE: Sub directory vs sub domain for company blog
In general I agree i like subdomains, as a developer the seperation is nice and tidy.
but virtual directories is a gret solutiosn when platforms must be mixed, I develop in ASP.MVC and sometimes have to load a web forms application intro a directory. -
RE: Sub directory vs sub domain for company blog
IOf you man because they are different platforms, It is posibble, at least on windows servers, you can make a virtual directory, it willact as anouther site in a sub directory.

RE: Numbers above actual site content
Do you mean the numbers show in the serps? Do you have description meta tags?
Search engines used to use the description meta tags but these days they pick and chose when to do ao, if you are getting them in the serps then they are making a bad choice. this will hurt your conversion, as people dont liek to ckick ona messy serp.i went to your site,. netbet and found many brocken links, this is proably a bigger concern.

RE: Sub directory vs sub domain for company blog
No I dont believe there is, only the usual 301 issues, if you have any links pointing to the old location you will need to 301 redirect to new location this will also prevent duplicate content issues.
but I agree i like subdomains, as a developer the seperation is noce and tidy

RE: Cannot see Bing rank in Campaign
no its not personal results in my case, as I have it turned off, and seoMoz staff see the same results when they check manualy. i have alerted them to my resulsts and they are at a loss to see why. They also are concerned and they also want things right, but are at a losss to explain it. It would not hurt to give feedback, just to let them know, there is a feedback tab on the left as you can see, it may be better to use the feebackk tab on actual page as that may give them theat info.

RE: Fixing the Too Many On-Page Links
Yes but they actualy have different pages,
http://www.florahospitality.com/nl/dining.aspxhttp://www.florahospitality.com/fr/dining.aspxhttp://www.florahospitality.com/it/dining.aspxhttp://www.florahospitality.com/ko/dining.aspxhttp://www.florahospitality.com/jp/dining.aspxCMSmakes things esiser to get started, but always lead to workarounds. if you want perfection you need to create a bespoke website i am afraid.

RE: Hosting and Domains in the US
you are in no doubt correct Simon, but i woonder if the IT people were talking of somthing else.
i wonder if they mean that the domain being registered in the UK, and pointing to the US would have a affect on geo location i the eyes of google.
I just cant see why the IT staff would say such a thing, unless there is a mis-understanding. -
RE: Fixing the Too Many On-Page Links
Thats a lot better, its actualy quite nice layout. But when view all is selected, it keeps freezing and is hard to scroll.
I see you have many languages and this is the problem. I see the site is made from asp.net, why did you not use the globalizatuion feature of ASP.net, it would show a language depending on the users settings on the computer, rather then have several versions, this would make life easier in development and solve your problem of havaing a link to every version.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa478974.aspxThe idea is to have all your text stored in resource files, one for each lingo, depending on windows settings you pull you content from a different rsource file.

RE: Fixing the Too Many On-Page Links
I must agree with Ryan here, the site looks like its missing a css file or somthing, they layout is non-existent. I think you havve more pressing concerns that link count

RE: How important are social bookmarking sites
I had a look, i was suprised to see 4k followers, nut on closer look, all the commenst i looked at were from other realeaste agents spamming with there own pitch.
some of the likes looked a bit fake, i ma not convinced that it will convert into sales. i would expect customers to be asking what soort of hot water system does it have, when was it last inspected for termites, that sort of think, the only commenst that did not seem to come from RE agents, were like "I wished i lived in Boston, nice house, Wow" Look to me like the staff have posted commenst to make the home look good.
But it may help his rankings, but how many real estate pages have this following, And i still can not see any of these going viral.
I did a bit fo a search and most had either no like or single figuers, i would not spend too much time on it, hopping that my page may the one of the lucky few. I would be doing a lot of others things first.
Another one we will have to agree to diagree on -
RE: Our site is recieving traffic for both .com/page and .com/page/ with the trailing slash.
No thats not a problem, SE will follow what you do, its if you have external links pointing to those pages is the proble, they will be 301 redirected and you will lose a little link juice. buyt if you dont fix it, you will keep getting teh problem.
If you have 2 external links pointing to url/ and url, then SE see that as 2 different pages each with one link. If you 301 it, they will see it as 1 page with 2 links, one a 301 redirect that loses a little LJ. My asumpution is that a 301 leaks 15%, others say a bit less, i wint go into who is right and wrong, we really dont know, but it is confiremmd that it does leak. so haveing 2 pages each with 1 links is not as good as having 1 page with 1.85 links. It would be better if you had both links pointing to the same verion of the page of cause.
Get that fixed pronto, then make sure all your internal links point to the correct version.
Do it site wide, as i said the search engines will ajust next crawl or 2. -
RE: How important are social bookmarking sites
I would generly agree, if you have somthing that goes viral, it can bring you some love, but i can only see that happaning in a limited number or areas, i cant see it working for real estate. i do hear of a lot of things going viral, but I always think, how are you going to turn that exposer into sales. Most things that go virual are purly social in nature and not convertable.

RE: Our site is recieving traffic for both .com/page and .com/page/ with the trailing slash.
This can be a big problem, I asume that your site 301 redirect to one or the other. All your internal links should point to the url that it redirect to. Every link leaks link juice, if you have a 301 it leaks twice. site wide this can mean a lot of link juice going up in smoke. there is not much you can do about the external links you already have, but if you fix the problem you can eliminate it in the future.
I have a tutorial on how to create a 301 to fix this for Windows servers
http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/tutorials/how-to-fix-canonical-issues-involving-the-trailing-slashIf you want too provide your url, either here or private message, i can loook into this probllem for you.
I should also mention that SE's see the 2 urls with and without as 2 different pages and your rank is split

RE: Where can I find a good definition of "link juice"?
There are many different factors to do with linking, PR, Relevancy, domain divercity. When people say link juice them mean the general goodness that comes from a link rather then get specific and technical.

RE: How important are social bookmarking sites
every one says they are important, but once again i will give you my opinion only.
I have a face book account, because i wanted to find old friends, i dont have a twitter account, and i find every other aspect of facebook, besides finding old friends anying and child like. I aam 48 years old, i think many people in my demographic would also think like me. So to me, it is a only a signal from a certain demographic that social media speaks for, and can only have a limited value.
If social media was the only factor for arguments sake, then a search for Paris, would bring a back a full page of articles on Paris Hilton, mmaybe on page five you may have the city paris, you would not find any reference to the Paris of greek legend.so i have doubts about social, it may be that the people at Bing and Google ae smart enouth to know when to use the signal and when not to.

RE: Is there any correlation to time and search ranking?
No, Rand has stated that its not the time you have been around, but the fact that time brings links and reconition. There maybe advanatge in gaining links and exposure over time steadly, showing a natural pattern, but simply having your domain name registered for a long period i dont think is true.

RE: Is DMOZ listing important
Others will yes its a great link. I can only give my opinion, i would not dismiss it but I think any listing for listing sake has to be doubted in value it provides search engines.
I tend to look for directories that have some sort of relevance, relevent too your location or relevant to your niche.
If i was you, I would be looking for Realestate directories and local directories for British Columbia.
If you were a google bot and you see that a RE agent is listed in Dmoz, what conclusions would you make, the owner has got it listed, it is reviewed so they can assume that the site is of some level of authenticity, oppsoed from a relevant site it can say that this guy is about reale estate and he is in the Courtenay, British Columbia area and is also reviewed. I think the latter is of more importance.
there has been a few easy ways to get links in the past, article posting, blog comments and directories. i have seen Matt Cutts state that out of the 3 local relevant directores still carry weight when mixed with quality links.
My tip is to concentrat on relevancy, not quantity or page rank, if you can get PR and quantity wheile being relevant thats great. -
RE: When searching for high quality links, in a niche area such as real estate, does page rank factor into a search or is page / domain authority the most important factor?
Have you got thart back to front?
DA of 8x but their PR was 3,
Would that not indicate they have very good links. as DA includes trust linking patterns, domain diversity and the like.
Where PR is just the flow of link juice thought links.
