root domain or sub page?

high pagerank?

high domain authority or high page authority?

high domain mozrank or high page mozrank?

• It is better to get more links from a variety of domains then from the same domain over and over again.
• Even if the domain is relevant it will not be as powerful root domain
• You want relevance and authority from sites linking to your site.
• They must also have no trace of a no follow tag in the URL.
• Google views subdomains like entirely different domains almost.

Thomas has a lovely answer. I'll just throw in that sites that have the top-level domain like .edu or .gov tend to have very good trust scores. Links from these sites will earn you more MozTrust.
