      Hi guys,

I run an ecommere store and we are constantly receiving and uploading new products. Do we need to update the sitemap every time we upload a product?

Google Webmasters tools shows that the number of URLs received is higher than the number of indexed URLs. They should match right?

      Thanks and regards

Your eCommerce software may automatically update your sitemap with new product url's.

In Volusion for instance, you just add the products and the sitemap is updated and crawled by Google.

We've got 15,000+ skus and don't add large volumes of products on a regular basis.

When I add new products I typically add them in GWT and submit them.  Generally, they appear in 2-3 days and more quickly than site crawls - especially if its a deep product.

_"Google Webmasters tools shows that the number of URLs received is higher than the number of indexed URLs. They should match right?" _Not always, and you probably will never get to a 100% score if you have a couple of thousands of pages in your site maps. A good indexation rate I always try to aim for is around 98-99% and then it will become a waste of time to work on the remaining 1-2% as these pages probably also don't match up to your own opinion of a high quality page.

Like mentioned, your CMS will hopefully handle the new products in your sitemaps and will on request generate the sitemaps for Google so always all your new products will be in there.
