Retargeting
-
Hi There,
Need help!

Could somebody tell me how does retargeting from adwords work?. We have no impressions and its running...do visitors have to come from google adwords?, what we are looking for is that when somebody leaves the web, they see our ad...
Thanks!

Hi Eduardo!
How long have you had your retargeting campaign setup? It might also depending on how specific your settings are set. Retargeting is setup so whenever someone visits your site and then they visit another site on the ad network they'll see your ad, but this all depends on the budget you have and the competition in the market. If it's been awhile and you haven't received any impressions you might want to take a look at your settings to make sure everything was setup properly.

Adwords re-targeting shows ads to people who have been to your site and then go to other sites around the web. If you are not getting imp somethings to check are
Check if your list is gaining users - You have to have a minimum of 100 users to start to see impr
Check your ads are approved and not on hold
Check you have popular ad formats ie 300 x 250 or text ads
Check your bid price it may be too low
If you still have issue give google a call

These guys hit the nail on the head, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here and recommend Google Analytics Remarketing. Â We've seen an even better ROI on our retargeting users through Adwords using custom events and goals we set up in Google Analytics (also using it to exclude users has been valuable).
Right now, there are three ways to set up remarketing in Adwords:
- Set an individual pixel on a page you want to retarget to users who have seen (the original way, still useful to include in emails)
- Set an Adwords script on all your pages and then retarget based on pages they've hit.
- Google Analytics Remarketing (no need to install additional scripts on your page, just a small tweak to your GA script)
Do you know which way you set it up? Â That would make it easier to troubleshoot your issues. Â I take it you've set up an ad group to target that audience?
