Setting up a new campaign

Even though they go to great lengths to explain what these mean, I feel like I still do not understand fully. Which one is just to track a domain in a usual way. domain.com, domain.com/aboutus.html, www.domain.com,  etc erc. I am not sure what this talk of sub domains is. When I think of sub-domains i think of http://subdomain.domain.com

Which parts of your domain would you like to track for this campaign?

Subdomain Track one subdomain. Examples: www.seomoz.org, guides.seomoz.org, pro.seomoz.org

Root Domain Track at root domain level. Track all the different subdomains within this root domain. Example: The root domain seomoz.org has www.seomoz.org, guides.seomoz.org, and pro.seomoz.org all as subdomains within the root domain. If we discover pages on any of the subdomains during our crawl, they'll be included in the data we display.

Subfolder Track a specific subfolder. Note that the subfolder path must resolve or we will not be able to crawl the content of that folder. Examples: www.seomoz.org/tools, guides.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization

This is Megan from the SEOmoz help team.  Sorry about any confusion with setting up your new campaign!  If you want to track everything on your site, like domain.com, domain.com/aboutus.html, www.domain.com, etc, then you'd want to set up a root domain campaign for domain.com.

If you wanted to track just a particular part of your campaign, like just the pages on www.domain.com or sudomain.domain.com, then you would set up a subdomain.

I had the same question. I am still on my trial period and learning how to use the tools.

I am looking to optimize my business website.

We  offer different services. A summary of all services appears on the home (index) page.

But every other page (is a page a subdomain?) is dedicated to each of the services we offer( ie Stone refinishing storation, epoxy floor installation, Tile & Grout Restoration etc..)

Do I set up one campaign using all my different keywords for all services offered with the path being the domain or would it be best set up individual campaigns for each different service with the path being the individual page (ie domain/service1 or is that considered a subdomain)
