  • hreflang is basically a way to tell search engines that you have a version of a website per country (or, actually per spoken language). Read here on what it is and how to use it: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en In your case, since you gonna have US and Canada website you gonna have something like this: in your header.

  • I've made a disavow, and I keep an eye for bad link every month. We had a manual penalty and solve it in July. I see rankings downs for "phone cards" "calling cards", "international phone card", "international calling card" and other variations, and it happen from 10-13 January, when the new core algo was released.

  • If 2 links come from different sites, but they are in the same IP, those links will pass less juice than if they were in different IP. Likewise other have responded. I recommend you to not worry about that. After all, there are finite IPs and there is able to be infinite sites. Of course, you should not abuse. Even more, if you're running a PBN, be extremaly careful on the external links you create. Gaston.

  • Thanks for the response, Lisa. Also, as I mentioned, the word 'You' doesn't seem to professional even if I compare my site with competitors. Doesn't sound professional in a corporate environment.

  • Don't get too caught up in jamming keywords into your titles. Chances are your competitors are already doing this, so use the opportunity to stand out and grab the users' attention; give them a reason to click your result over the other ~9 on the page. Page titles should be compelling so getting your keyword(s) in there is great, but try to avoid the clunk old [keyword] [keyword] page title style. Sometimes it makes sense and is about all you can really do but if you can avoid it, do so. I don't agree that you need to have the word Australia in the title either, Google looks at plenty of factors to determine what country you're in so no need to take up those precious pixels in your title with a long, redundant word! There are a couple of Whiteboard Fridays that cover this general topic which you might find helpful: Headline Writing and Title Tag SEO in a Clickbait World Keyword Targeting, Density, and Cannibalization I'd give you an example of a strong title but I just realised how little I know about wedding dresses! Basically, it should be something like Amelie Wedding Dress - [Something compelling; what do they care about?]. Remember, don't talk about yourself or your product, talk about the benefits these customers care about. If they're sold online, ship fast and this is your strongest selling point, maybe something like Amelie Wedding Dresses - Easy Online Store, Shipped in 48hrs!

  • Doubtful - since you've had redirects in place for so long, Google most likely dropped the old domain(s) from the index long ago.

  • +1 for EGOL I would play with the pricing strategy instead of using noindex and nofollow on my site. These unwanted service pages might have valuable Page Authority and pass link juice in internal navigation, so noindex and nofollow can potentially hurt the overall organic search performance of your site. If you don't want Google to crawl these pages looking for new information, simply block crawling in robots.txt but leave them in Google's index.

  • Hey Scott, What Ioganr has mentioned is correct. Google+ pages, per se, are no longer really the core URLs of your local data on Google. Rather, what happens these days is that your Google My Business dashboard data is being displayed in a variety of ways, and that the URL you'd be most likely to link to these days for any purpose would be the Maps-based URL, like this: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Whole+Foods+Market/@38.596632,-121.364044,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x5f6895a3853012bc But, linking to this on a RFQ page is probably going to be a distraction from what you'd like users to do there, yes.

  • You mean "feature snippet"? http://www.hmtweb.com/marketing-blog/featured-snippets-from-seo-sem-industry/ http://searchengineland.com/swapped-losing-google-featured-snippet-case-study-228899 Honestly - no one knows. But you can implement semantic ItemList for this and this could trigger featured snippet for your page. PS: In first article WS have 9k featured snippets, but rank for 580 queries. LOL. -> https://twitter.com/glenngabe/status/689807106375979008

  • Hi, the higher up the architecture the links are pointing to, the more pages the authority has the potential to influence if. For example building links to the homepage will also help any pages that it links to. Building links to one page only will have a larger impact on that particular page but won't benefit others as much. Does this make sense? I hope this answers your question, unfortunately I don't know of any case studies since it can't really be compared. I'm still not 100% sure of the question if I'm honest. Craig

  • Hi there Check your sitemap and update your internal links. This usually helps takes care of a major portion of your problem. From there, check your backlinks and make sure you update those that are relevant to your site and remove those that are not. I would take a look at the 404 list - see what pages you could easily redirect to relevant pages the user would still find valuable, and custom 404 the others. You could also 410 pages, but I would use that wisely, because it's not really that necessary. Lastly, here's a great resource from Matt Cutts on SEW that helps SEOs handle eCommerce 404s. Hope this helps! Good luck!
