How much SEO software is too much?
I agree with Link Research Tools - there's a wealth of data that can be used to help in Link Building Efforts. Watch all the videos first otherwise you are going to be drowning in link data. The Competitor Analysis Tools (compare upto 25) is amazing, and a lot better then SEOmoz competitor Tools. Check out the Link Alerts tool as well. The service will automatically crawl upto 16 different backlink sources (including GA Referral data) and let you know when you have a new link. I also use this tool for website audits - very handy. Not a substitute for any other tool, but very complimentary.

What do you do about links to constantly moving pages?
I'd have to agree with this more! 301 to the category, that way once a new article/post/page/job etc appears under that article page, it will instantly have a boost from the PA/DA passed

301 redirect
I need to 301-redirect about 25 product pages because I'm having a content management system installed in part of the site. What's the definitive answer on this -- is some link authority lost along a 301 link? These page rank superbly & are high-traffic, so I can't afford to take unnecessary risks.

Do search enginges prefer pages with mobile websites on the mobile phone?
Hello Petra, The "right" question to ask would rather be - how will this be in the (close) future - and the answer is that it will be more and more important to have mobile optimized versions. You should use a rel=canonical back to your desktop/web version though. Here's an excellent QA which hints at what I wrote above as well: http://www.seroundtable.com/single-url-mobile-seo-13521.html It's okay to redirect to a subdomain or subfolder but if you aim for the 100% you should not (it's not always possible, I know). best regards, Jan

How important are breadcrumbs?
I think they are very usefull on top of the page. As you would probably link to the pages in the breadcrumbs in another way if you wouldn't have the breadcrumbs, it doesn't really matter for your linking structure. Haven't seen any evidence or experience that links in breadcrumbs are less valuable because they are in the breadcrumb. As for additional placement at the bottom: I think it depends on the page. On a content page, actually quite some people scroll down reading and at the bottom they look for alternative resources. Why not add the breadcrumb also there along with other relevant links.

How do you visualize website structure
DYNO Mapper is great at visualizing a website's structure. It is the best Sitemap Generator that I have used because it also performs a content audit and includes Google Analytics integration. It's pretty sweet how you can sort and filter pages based on Google Analytics metrics. If you are looking for a great discovery and planning tool I would give it a try. 110649952

How do you use mozMetrics
I have recently had a client ask about these metrics. After explaining that the numbers are just being used to compare them with competitors, I usually begin to explain the types of actionable items that influence authority and trust. I think most of us could do a better job explaining what it is that we do as well as why were doing it.

Site Relaunch
I am also with Spencer on this one. If the new site is done, then 301 the old site to the new and just maintain the backend on the old. If you admin logon is on the same domain, you might have to 301 individual pages over to the new site.

Location of the web host provider and SEO
I do not have studies with me to prove (or not) if local hosting providers influences rankings... But I want to underline that is the IP location what counts, especially if we accept the idea that for Local Search Search Engines are looking also if the website is for real localized in the country it is competing for. That means, that you can also avoid a physical hosting in the country you are competing for, but you can host your website via proxy in the local country, as very well said Richard Baxter in this comment (http://www.seomoz.org/blog/international-seo-where-to-host-and-how-to-target-whiteboard-friday#jtc132564 )to this WBF: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/international-seo-where-to-host-and-how-to-target-whiteboard-friday Anyway, the most important is the domain termination, so - whenever it is possible - try always to use the country domain name termination of the geography you want your site rank for.

Page Authority
Hi Hansj: Yes, the imgaes that existed had no alt tags, all lived on one URL with a generic page title. So as far as optimising these images goes, I've given them all descriptive and relevant alt tags, H1 tags and page title, and then added to sitemap.xml. I am now in the process of measuring the sucess of this and thats where the PA came in. So if image A was steadily moving up the SERP's yet Images C & D were having no impact what could be the influencing factors? Obviously there will be many factors asto why, but I thought that PA could play a part in the overall monitoring. Thanks for the reply
