Optimum Number of Links on Any Given Page

One of the guidelines you provide stipulates:

"You should avoid having too many (roughly defined as more than 100) hyperlinks on any given page. As far as these 100 links are concerned, is this in reference to ALL links including outbound, internal, etc? Or is this referring to only outbound links to other sites?

So let me ask just so I am sure. The 100 links guideline has apparently been removed by Google but one shouldn't stuff a page with links or it may come off as a link farm. Outbound links should be minimized as the Google PR gets divided by the number of outbound links? Or was he narrator in the video referring to amount of link "juice" you're giving to another site based on the total number of outbound links?

Yes, you're basically right. With the PR of any given page it's not that it gets divided by the amount of outbound links on the page, but it's generally believed that the PR decreases (leaks) with the increasing number of outgoing links.

What I'm about to add is more philisophical than hard data oriented. Don't be afraid to link out to relevant pages. Yes, you will lose some "juice", but you gain goodwill and "link karma" See, I tolld you it was philisophical

Seriously though, if there is a natural fit for a link out, I'd include it.

Feel free to throw this advice out the nearest window if you are in a tightly competitive space. then hoard all the link juice you can.
